Aizawa worried for all his students some time or another
but he never worried for more than one tokoyami fumikage
tokoyami had a long-term illness called Chronic fatigue syndrome
this illness caused his student multiple problems that caused him pain and misery
sleep problems
muscle/joint pains
problems thinking, remembering and concentrating
dizziness
nausea
and irregular heartbeats
when he trained his friends would have to usually have to stop within spars and rush over to the raven when he could no longer stand, throwing up usually and shaking
telling him to take a breather and stop until he was ready
Aizawa didn't want to hold back his student but had to ensure that he didn't overexercise because it sometimes made his symptoms worse
The severity of his symptoms varied from day to day, or even within a day
there were some days where the raven couldn't even get out of bed
Aizawa prayed that Tokoyami just like most people with CFS would improve over time
but Aizawa always feared that he wouldn't make a full recovery, but he was a child so he was more likely to recover fully)
but he didn't know what triggered these symptoms specifically but he did know of some of the triggers which he made sure to keep the raven far away from
if there was a viral infection or bacterial infections rumoured to be going around he would send Tokoyami into an isolated area so he would be safe
but then some triggers were less easy to prevent
thanks to this illness it had caused many imbalance mental health problems, such as stress and emotional trauma
the Extreme tiredness and other physical symptoms made it hard for him to carry out everyday activities
which sometimes he needed help and Aizawa saw how much of a negative effect it had on his self-esteem
it wasn't rare to see Tokoyami being surrounded by his friends, being comforted as he cried in pain and exhaustion or them grabbing a piece of equipment the raven seemed to want before he could reach for himself
the class didn't pity their friend or try to say he was weak, but they had seen how much the raven could be that they wanted to prevent it further
Tokoyami was thankful for such loving friends, but it did sometimes make him less confident within himself
to help Aizawa designated a full 2 hours with Tokoyami to help him speak and decrease his stress and talk through his problems
Tokoyami was a well-reserved student so getting him to talk wasn't always easy and it took time to build up a good level of trust
luckily Aizawa was able to build this up, meaning that the recommended treatments to help with tokoyami's illness he happily followed
he was given a structured exercise programme so as not to put so much strain on himself when in training
to help control the pain, nausea and sleeping problems he was medication
and if he had to take a break there was a designated resting area filled with big pillows and blankets where he could go to take a break
people asked why a person with CFS was allowed to enter UA
saying it wasn't worth the effort
but Aizawa just had to disagree
regardless of what people said
Tokoyami wasn't weak
he had his moments but he was strong
he pushed himself hard to ensure that he didn't fall behind
when he was physically drained he didn't give up
he revised hard
in the beginning, he pushed himself so far he couldn't move without it hurting
luckily things had gotten better
but that fire of determination never left his eyes
he was strong
he was a fighter
and that was how Aizawa knew Tokoyami would make a powerful hero
because he never let anything get between him and his goals
