"Hey endeavour, my friend" hawks called out cheerfully as he and his intern walked to the number 1 hero

The two had just entered the number 1 hero's agency Where Hawk's cheerfulness was met with a tired glare

Endeavour had just finished dealing with a group of water bending villains and was not in the mood for more troublesome and annoying pests

"Listen, could you do me a big favour" hawks asked as he stood only a few feet away from the larger man

(What could this man child possibly want now) endeavour thought annoyedly before asking him "What is it"

To this hawks happily pushed Tokoyami to the front so endeavour could see him

"I'm needed to deal with something in a sketchy and very not kid-friendly area that I don't want to bring my little intern to" hawks explained

Endeavour questioned where this was going, by the look on his interns face, he also didn't seem clued in, face looking a bit embarrassed when called little

"So could you watch him while I deal with it?" Hawks asked before lifting himself into the sky with his massive red wings

"Wait-" both endeavour and Tokoyami said before hawks infuriated him

"Great thanks so much, by the way, he's a good kid loves apples, don't mess him up" hawks voice echoed as he flew away to his emergency

Endeavour and Tokoyami were left standing awkwardly

The endeavour wasn't good with kids, especially not his own

But now having to deal with one that he had never talked to before, shoto's age (which was right where the rebellious stage was) and working with hawks

He wasn't sure of

Tokoyami didn't have a good feeling about endeavour, yes he is the number 1 hero so he owed him respect, but hearing the stories of shoto's past... just made him nervous

"Well...if I'm being assigned to keep you "safe" I guess you should come in" endeavour concurred

Tokoyami bowed his head in respect, thanking him and following his offer

Replacing his shoes to slippers as a respectful house guest

This was only one of the first surprises endeavour was in for that day

It was very awkward at first

Compared to hawks this kid was a saint

He was quiet but when asked questions he responded politely and formally

Yes the odd dramatic twist of words but nothing too complicated

Endeavour found he was a very intelligent individual

An empty chest set was displayed on the table and he couldn't help but notice the raven's attention being drawn to it once or twice

"Would you perhaps like to play a game" endeavour asked

To this Tokoyami apologised for staring but accepted his offer

Endeavour allowed the Raven to pick first and, to him expectedly, went for black

It seemed that Tokoyami was fond of the colour, being completely dressed from head to toe in it 

Another difference between his mentor

It seemed to endeavour that he only chose Tokoyami due to his bird mutation

Not that endeavour wasn't grateful if he had to deal with a mini hawks...no, he didn't want to think about something so terrifying

Endeavour found that Tokoyami was simply pleasant company, he didn't give him death stares, he wasn't annoying, he joined in the conversation and so on

"Checkmate" endeavour declared

And in response, Tokoyami nodded and held out a sportsmanly hand to shake

Endeavour admired his patience, not many hero's had this, for he had moments of cockiness and smugness

But Tokoyami so far had been nothing more than perfect and tried to perfect where he could do better

Stating where he should have moved and where he should have calculated

By using these thoughts he was able to beat him on the 3rd to 8th match

and endeavour was impressive,

And it made Him question why on earth was he with such an ignorant man baby that had such a carefree look on life

This child had a sense of the reality of which his mentor did not

It was a shame, endeavour thought

To see such a humble boy being mentored by-

"Hawks sir" Tokoyami announced

Waking endeavour out of his thoughts

Indeed the birdman had come back

He seemed to be flustered with lipstick covering his entire face

"What happened to you, are you ok?" Tokoyami questioned as his mentor came closer

Endeavour grimaced, before reaching over to Tokoyami and covering his eyes

"You couldn't have bothered to wash up before you came here ?" Endeavour asked

"I was hoping I'd use your shower...Nah, didn't want to leave you with the kid too long so I'm here to take him home," hawks said sarcastically before changing to a chuckle

"At least wipe your face, Tokoyami and I can wait a while longer until then" endeavour sighed as Tokoyami although quietly, asked if endeavour could give him back his sight

Hawks came back after wiping his face, although, marks were revealed which he tried and failed to hide

"Alright little chick, time to head of" hawks announced as he began to walk out of the agency

Tokoyami nodded

But before leaving he quickly gave a bow to the number 1 hero, thanking him for his time

Endeavour simply nodded, not knowing the words

Tokoyami was a kind and polite young man child which if endeavour was looking forward to seeing again soon
