sitting still and focusing on the world around you was something no everyone did

Tokoyami was a rare exception

every night it seemed his senses seemed to heighten

he could see the small details on a little fly buzzing by

he could hear the usually unnoticed whooshes of every single grass blade from outside

he could smell the pleasant aroma of the lilacs the girls had bought to make the dorms more homely

his hands could feel every fibre that was threaded into his favourite jacket, stitched with care and high-quality material

and he could taste the sweet nectar of the apple he was currently eating, every single juicy drop that came with ever crunch

it was only at night did this sort of experience seem to happen

but that never stopped him to see how beautiful and precious the world he lived was every night

"Tokoyami heads up!" he heard one of his classmates call out, breaking his peace

even though it was a fastball he was able to catch it, without looking away from his book

"whoa, nice catch" Kirishima praised as he retrieved the ball

"your senses are so good at night, what's your secret?" mina asked curiously with slight mischief
