Chapter 45: Goodbye, My Friend

"Y/N.." Kaminari whispered with a tinge of guilt.

From the look on his face, the furrowed eyebrows and the heavy eye bags, it was apparent that he didn't want to do this. You gritted your teeth in anger.

"How dare you force him!!"

Strong current of water came gushing out from your palms and towards Kaden, slamming him right against the tree trunk. The angrier you were, the stronger the water pressure became, disabling his mobility.

However, he was unfazed. Instead there was a big grin on his face. You squinted your eyes in confusion when he reached out his hand for the water. All of a sudden, yellow electricity came travelling through it, going straight to your palms and eventually your whole body was electrocuted. You collapsed to the ground as your muscles spasmed for a few moments.

"Force? I didn't. He did this of his own volition because we share the same views. Right, Kaminari?" His eyes flickered towards the stunned yellow haired boy.

He remained silent and stared wide-eyed at your anguished expression. Kaden squinted his eyes when he sensed sympathy leaking out from Kaminari's demeanour.

"Right,Kaminari?" He prompted.

Kaminari stretched his hand upwards to the sky, mimicking the same motion he did when he first manipulated lightning. Your head was in a turmoil. Having to deal with your biggest fear twice in a day was enough to paralyse you completely.

As soon as he clenched his fist, the light zipped from the sky and to the nearest tree, igniting a raging fire that swallowed the crown of the tree. All you could think of was how the forest was going to engulf in flames. Would your water quirk even suffice to extinguish them all? What about your friends? Would they survive?

Too distracted in your thoughts, you felt a tight grip around your waist and the next thing you knew, you were teleporting from one place to another in less than a second. In the end it landed you directly at the base of the mountain. The squeeze around your waist loosened and that was when you could fully grasp the situation.

Kaminari had use his flash step to escape from the villain alongside you. He exhaled shaky breaths trying to regain his composure.

"This should broaden our distance. I'm sorry for the sudden lightning. I had to use it as a diversion to escape with you,"

You looked at him in confusion. "Why did you save me? Weren't you going to kill me?"

He cracked a wan smile, face full of exhaustion and regret. "Because I love you so much," he replied.

"You are like my older sister, constantly having my back, correcting my wrongdoings and treating me with so much care. I realised that no one can ever love me the same way you do. So if i killed you, I wouldn't have anyone else," he continued with a solemn expression.

"You're wrong! The class loves you as much as I do. You have Kirishima, Sero, Jiro, literally everyone by your side.." you retorted.

"Is that so..?" He softly chuckled. His eyes seemed dead, devoid of light contrary to his usual image. "Then, do you think they will still love me when they find out how much of a monster I am?" He asked.

Your breath hitched, unable to respond. Because undeniably, he still was the one who who aided the League Of Villains in invading the USJ and the training camp. The class was in danger because of him.

"I thought so," he said before you could even utter a word. "That's why I will end everything here. Right now.
