**Aizawa's POV**
The distant television noise awoke me rather than my alarm clock which was set to go off in 5 minutes time. My hand fumbled across the sheets to feel nothing but coldness. When the realisation that Y/N was gone, I groggily got up and trudged towards the living room. The kitchen was exceptionally quiet, not even a blow of breath.
Y/N stood in front of the television, fully stationary like a mannequin. I walked to her side, noticing how her dilated eyes were unblinking and her mouth agape.
"Y/N-" I called out when the news interjected my sentence.
"A sea of reporters are currently gathered outside the U.A gate after images of the Pro-Hero, Eraser Head, going out with ex Pro-Hero (H/N) and presumably their kid, were leaked. H/N was a notable hero in the United States, recognised for her–"
The TV switched off immediately right before the reporter could finish. Y/N hurled the remote control aside and stomped away with a frown entrenched on her face.
"They could've at least blurred Eri's face," she snarled while making a cup of coffee, her hands and mouth worked in perpetual synch. "You don't have to go to school today if you don't feel like it. It won't be long until they find out I was your ex-student anyway. It's going to get crazy."
"A few reporters don't scare me. Besides, I need to have a word with the principal too. I'm sure he's waiting for me."
Y/N stopped stirring the cup of coffee and looked up with knitted brows, slightly concerned but with a tinge of annoyance. "Alright, then."
———
Sneaking past the reporters wasn't much of a big deal especially when you knew every nook and cranny of the school and the different routes to get in. But the problem was handling the stares of the students who looked curious. Some of them jogged up to me in the hallway to pry about the matter only to be shut down as usual. I stood in front of the principal's room, getting ready to knock when Principal Nezu's voice suddenly urged me inside as if he already sensed my presence.
I entered and closed the door behind me quietly.
"I see you've come to visit me," he smiled.
"Yes, because I knew you would call for me anyway. Let's get straight to the point. I've come to tell you that I will voluntarily resign from my position as a teacher here in U.A. I've already prepared my resignation letter prior to this because I knew this problem would arise sooner or later. I deeply apologise for the inconvenience caused and I will accept any punishme–"
"Why would you do that?" he arched a brow as my head jerked up. "I didn't call you to speak about this matter. And I certainly don't want you to withdraw. Whatever that happens between you and Y/n is not my business."
"But I will just tarnish U.A's reputation if I stay any longer..."
"No? Let the media say whatever they want. They don't know the real truth anyway, about what happened 18 years ago and the things you've been through."
I had forgotten that Principal Nezu played a big role in helping with the maintenance of the time machine, making him one of the few people who knew about its existence, power and the tragedy that befell on that day.
"I wanted to call you in because I needed to talk to you about the time machine."
"What about it..?" I asked, slightly worried.
"I've planned to demolish it once and for all. It will be a menace to leave something so powerful, that could potentially interfere with the fabric of time, in the basement. If it falls into the wrong hands, again, I can't guarantee the security of our people, or maybe even this city," he said with a solemn look, contrary to the norm.
