The car.. it was impossible. The car was totally fine when he parked it back in the morning. How come the break was not working suddenly?

Dev tried every possible way to keep the car on track but he knew he was loosing it. It was already evening. And when you live on top of a hill the evenings become more dangerous.

The car went totally out of control. He just knew it was the end. Thanking himself for asking Joseph to stay back at home for driving Teressa he brought out his phone from his side pocket and opened the screen.

There she stood on his phone screen, smiling back at him with all her glory.

His heart was aching. He was so close to finally having her in his life. Why now? Why now when he was ready to change for her? Why now when she started accepting him even though he had flaws?

He cursed his fate for ruining everything but he was at the same time thankful that it was him and not her.

The gap between the cliff and the car was becoming shorter and shorter. He knew he could do nothing to stop it. His grip on the steering wheel tightened. At last he closed his eyes and held his breath to endure whatever was coming towards him, a tiny drop of tear finally came out of his eyes and the only word he could mumble was,"Teressa!"

His hands kept sweating. There were many things that kept bothering him. But of all, he feared to look at her face. There were two things he didn't want to see on her face right now. And both the wants made him look like a down right selfish. But he couldn't control it.

He remembered seeing her when they both were younger. Her smile, her patience, her considerate nature always attracted him. The way she ran into his arms every time they met, the way she cooked something specially for him. It seemed as if everything around him suddenly started changing. He didn't want that.

"Teressa! Thank God you are finally here." Pratima Ji's voice echoed through the almost empty corridor.
"He is going crazy. You should go inside and check on him." She added.

Finally Manik gained a little confidence to turn around and face her. But what he saw devastated him from inside.

The fear and pain across her face, the teary swollen eyes and the unevenness of breath made everything clear to him.

She was too concerned about Dev, her eyes said it all, making one of the two things seemingly visible. Which also led to his second and most inevitable fear come true.

"She loves him." He whispered to himself.

She started walking as if her body might collapse if she runs. She placed her hand on the wall beside her. Her body was shaking out of nervousness. She kept talking to herself, things only she could hear. The tears never stopped dripping out.

It seemed as if she couldn't see or hear anything around her. She only wanted him to be safe.

And when she finally reached the door she heard him after so many hours.

"Fucking open the door, otherwise I-I'll break it!" His voice was huskier than usual and also a little slurred. As if he was tipsy.
"Can't you hear me..I need to see her!" He shouted.

Finally plucking up the courage she knocked on the door as it seemed locked from inside.
"Who is this?" A breathless female voice asked from inside.

"Teressa Brown here, I have come to see.." But before her words could end the door abruptly opened startling her. And the lady there looked at her from top to bottom. As if immediately she released a long breath and said, "Finally! Please get inside ma'am."

"WILL.YOU.PLEASE.TAKE.THIS . WEIRD.THING.AWAY!" The grumpy voice said through gritted teeth.

Startled, Pratima ji turned around to find Rik holding Bruno in his arms and looking unquestionably pissed. She couldn't help but stifled a laugh and finally pulled Bruno out of his arms.

"Knowing the fact how much you hate dogs it was really nice seeing you this considerate about Bruno." She said.

"Your 'responsibility' left me with no other options." He complained and started walking towards Manik. Who seemed to have zoned out.

"Didn't I tell you not to think about this particular specimen. It will get you no where Nik." He said sincerely.
Manik jumped out of his thought to find Rik standing right beside him.

"Sorry, I couldn't get you bro. Did you just say something?" He asked nonchalantly.
To this Rik sympathetically shook his head.
"Leave that. How is Dev doing? Also where is the Doctors' cabin?" Rik asked.

"Yes, that's.. just come with me. Even I need to talk to them. We had nothing to worry about if only Dr. Hembram was here. But unfortunately he is out of station. So we have to deal with it ourselves." He said and started walking towards the opposite end of the corridor.

"Fine. You carry on I'll catch you up. Just need to check on something." Rik said and turned around.

He didn't know what was happening but his legs kept pulling him towards the door where Dev was kept. An unknown nervousness started creeping up his spine.

There he was, sitting at the corner of the cabin floor. His bandaged head hung backwards with the support of the wall. His eyes closed. His bleeding hands on his folded knees.

The whole cabin was a mess. And the nurses seemed tired.
All total the scenario was pathetic.

She knew how unpredictable he could be. That made her even more nervous. But she didn't waste anymore time and uttered the word.

"Dev.."

Her trembling voice startled him and he snapped his eyes open to find her standing right infront of him.
As if on cue every muscle in his body relaxed. His hands fell on either sides of him and he left a heavy breath. The tears that were threatening to come out finally couldn't stop flowing out of his eyes anymore.

Her hands cupped her mouth.  Wiping tears from her eyes with her other hand, she failed to suppress a sob.

He tried to stand up but suddenly his body gave up. The abrupt movement caused another jolt of pain go through his whole body.

And somehow the nurses decided to leave the cabin to them and left.

He couldn't help but sit back. The wall supported his back. His right hand placed on his folded knee while the other leg lay straight on the floor.

"W-where were you?" He asked. His eyes were bloodshot.

"I-I was.." She could barely speak. Her throat became dry.

"Come here." He raised his left hand and gestured her to come to him.

Although her steps faltered she moved closer and knelt down beside him.

That's it.

Within a millisecond she was engulfed into a bone crushing hug. A hug that she never knew she needed so much.

Her arms automatically snaked around his body.He rocked her back and fourth, tears coursing down his cheeks without his consent.

"I-I was so afraid.... so worried." She continued uttering incoherent words while sobbing breathlessly.

"I know.. I know baby." He uttered while lightly placing a kiss on her ear and rubbing her back.
