Back to the contemporary..

It had already been two months to that incident. Triss has not been allowed to leave the mansion since then. Although her aunt's dream came true. The bakery shop had been converted to a cafeteria. She dropped Nilu and visited the shop on a daily basis.

Dev was standing at the glass window inside his cabin. The Nagpati Empire was going on as usual. He knew that her wish was to go back to her aunt's place but luckily Pratima ji and Julian aunty kept being adamant. They convinced her about the good that could happen to her aunt if she stayed back at the mansion. Not to mention the regular physiotherapy and the care she was already getting was some other undeniable factors that forced her not to leave the mansion.
He still remembered the evening when she suddenly came to his room with Nilu and asked him to help her sort this problem.
"This doesn't seem right. I need to get back to my aunt's place Dev. Don't take me wrong. You all are lik another family to me now but still it just doesn't feel right."
His heart stopped. He felt like he could die out of breathlessness. But the tiny thing saved him from that misery.
"Triss, I am hungry. Will you make that pasta again?" The child said while playing with her hand and she immediately smiled back at her saying "right now sir!".

Yes, she had already become his family. Pratima ji somehow understood that long back because she never stopped her from entering the kitchen or inviting Pihu inside the guest room. Surprisingly enough she never behaved like a guest anymore. As if it was her own place.

Dev had already got habituated seeing her early in the morning. How she got ready to go to Mountain Rainbow as enthusiastically as everyday; how the garden outside became her responsibility; how she started buying things to decorate the mansion; how she never felt like knocking before coming inside his room anymore or how she waited at the dinner table for him to arrive.

Bad habits grow unconsciously and Teressa was one such to him.

He knew that most of the days she spoke to Manik being careful not to let him know that her aunt was going through all these. It was her belief that this information could distract him from his agenda. And although it was indirectly good for him too but he just couldn't digest the thought that they were still that close. Something inside him was making him restless. The thought of sharing her attention, seeing her caring about someone else burned him from inside. He turned around and punched the table. He had never been more certain about something than this. He just knew it that anyone, anyone who comes in between them would be destroyed without him thinking twice. Even if it includes his own family.

He was busy thinking about what should be done when the door of his cabin burst open. He looked up to find out the least expected person panting at the door.

"How dare you not inform me about her situation?" Said Manik, kicking the door behind him with full force.
"You need to calm down first Manik. Whatever you are thinki.. " Dev tried to say something but to his surprise Manik was too angry to even understand anything.
"You do all these things in my absence and you still want to explain? Surprising bhai! What would've you done if you were at my place and if she was your girlfriend?" Manik asked without having the slightest idea about what he had just said. Within a moment he was in the air. In front of him stood the furious giant himself.
"I would do this to the random third person who would dare to claim something that belongs to me!!" He growled. Manik's eyes narrowed. It was beyond his imagination. He was thrown into the wall like a non-living thing. The only response he could give was a painful moan.
"She is mine! You understood? You dare to claim her as your girlfriend and you are a dead man!" Dev shouted and kicked the table. His rage was overpowering his senses. The same old feeling, the same unsteadiness came back. It was that frenzy, that uncontrollable wrath, that stays underneath his well behaved exterior. He gripped the wooden pen stand so tightly that his knuckles became white. He took a deep breath and said panting,
"I would do whatever I would find right for her. Do not make me do something that can ruin everything."
Manik was still trying hard to complete the puzzle. His brother, the man who always wanted to stay away from girls was now fighting with him for Triss. What was it? He was still under a trance when all of a sudden someone else silently came in to the cabin.

"Goodness! What a show it was." The new member said.

"But I felt a rather disappointed. You both could have carried it on a little further." He said while walking towards one of the couches.

"What disgusted me was that the Senior Nagpati was actually fighting with the junior one over a girl? Like seriously? When did this happen? Whatever, please fight for a better cause at least. " The man with the grey eyes smirked.

Both the brothers looked at the newly arrived intruder.

But only one of them smiled and said, " Rik bhai, when did you arrive?"

Another clenched his honey brown eyes and whispered, "could it get any worse? Manik was not enough that the man whore himself needed to arrive?"
