Thank you for 10,000 followers. As a sign of my gratitude, here is a sneak preview of the sequel to Enemies with Benefits that will be released once I am finished with Sophie's spin off story 'Inconvenient Attachment.'

Both spin off stories are out by the way (Brent and Finley's story 'When we were Wallflowers' is nearly done), I'm just saying this as people keep asking for them when they're already out.

Anyway, who here missed the Williams family?

"I'm getting old now." Colby's mother gazed down at the intertwining metal limbs of the table.

Once again, the Williams family had gathered at a relatively nice restaurant to catch up and have a meal together. Colby had decided on the restaurant today, he'd been recommended it by a colleague and it was close enough to both his house and his parents for both parties to make it. The Williams senior family, his mom and dad, sat on one side of the table, his dad dressed like a fancy librarian and his mom in denim bell bottoms and a red flouncy top underneath. The Williams junior family, Colby and Ezra, sat on the other side of the table. Ezra was wearing forest green trousers and a button up shirt with the top two buttons undone, practically an invitation for Colby to have a quick ogle of him every time the conversation was getting a little dry.

But how could conversation go dry when his mom was at the table.

"I'm getting so old." She sighed dramatically, dabbing a napkin under her eyes to wipe away tears that no one could see because they weren't real. "Not as old as your dad, mind you, but still my bones grow weary and my heart ever weaker."

Colby saw Ezra glance at him, silently asking him what the hell is she on this time?

"You're not that old, mom." Said Colby. "You're still just as beautiful as you've ever been."

The wiping away of fake tears stopped and she glared at him. "I said I was old, not ugly!" As if remembering that she was putting on a performance, she went back to dabbing her dry eyes. "Old. So old." She wailed. "Soon I will be in my grave without ever seeing grandchildren."

Oh great, here she goes again.

"Mom, we've talked about this. Ezra and I aren't going to have..."

She slammed her hand down on the table, a metallic clatter shocking all the waitstaff and other people just trying to enjoy their meals. "Shut up! I don't want to hear it! I deserve grandchildren, I raised you, I raised both of you so the least you could do is give me a baby!"

"If you want a baby so bad, then get dad to give you one!" If his mom wanted to make a scene in public then Colby would rise up to the challenge, after all, he was her in a different font.

"I don't want another baby that I have to give birth to. Do you know how painful that is?"

"So, you want me to give you a child that you don't have to go through the efforts of birthing or raising. You want half the effort for double the love. Well, I'm sorry mom, I can't give you that satisfaction!"

His mom dissolved into full on fake sobbing. Her head collapsed into her hands and her shoulders trembled, a dog-like whimpering escaping her lips. Colby muttered profanities under his breath but loud enough for her to hear as he sat with his arms crossed. Ezra placed a hand on Colby's thigh and squeezed it. A possibly sweet action, but Colby knew it was Ezra body language for shut the fuck us and stop encouraging her.

His dad and Ezra seemed to be of the same mind as his dad stroked his mom's back and said, "Maybe we should all calm down."

"Yeah, calm down Mom!" Colby couldn't help himself and was punished for it as Ezra's hand went from gentle squeeze to death grip.

"Jemma." Here came Ezra with damage control. "Having kids just isn't something that Colby and I are focused on at the moment."

At the moment?

"At the moment?" His mom peaked through her fingers.

"We only got married a couple years ago, we can't just rush into parenthood right away." Ezra explained.

Did he want kids? They'd talked before about the possibility, but Ezra had never shown much interest. Was this him admitting he did?

A bubble of excitement rose in Colby.

"Excuse me, mister. But you absolutely can have children soon after marriage. I had Colby before Trevor asked me to marry him, hell, we weren't even friends before he failed to pull out in time."

Perhaps many years ago, Colby's dad would've been embarrassed by such a comment by his wife, but he'd been married to her for too many years now to let something like that get to him. Colby watched as he politely called over a waiter and asked for the cheque. Thank god, this was nearly over.

His dad slapped his thigh. "Right. Well we better be off then. Come on, dear." He pulled his reluctant wife out of her chair and they said their goodbyes to the boys.

Colby looked over at Ezra, who reclined in his chair, obviously pleased that his mom couldn't harass him anymore; not until next time anyway. His fair hair was slicked back from his face and the beginning of a beard was forming on his face again. Colby couldn't lie that he enjoyed the sensation of the sweet scratches of his stubble. Ezra noticed his staring and brought Colby's hand to his face to give it a quick kiss.

"What's wrong?" Asked Ezra.

"Did you mean it? When you said that we might have kids at some point down the line."

Ezra scoffed. "No, of course not. It was just to get her off our backs for now, then the next time she asks I'll find something else to put her off, then rinse and repeat. Don't worry, we're never having kids."

"Yeah."

Who would want kids. Definitely not Colby. No, no, not Colby.
