Phoenix Haynes

A black Audi pulled up in front of Peter and I, and the window quickly rolled down to reveal Fury in the drivers seat.

Thank God.

"Get in." He ordered, and Peter jumped in the backseat while I took the passenger side, putting on my seatbelt.

Peter pulled off his mask, breathing heavily and leaning forward, between mine and Fury's seats.

"Mr Fury!"

"You've got a lot of explaining to do." He said, and I looked at him.

"No, you should really listen to this."

"Wait until we're secure." He said, and Peter pushed himself back into his seat, crossing his arms over his chest.

"Okay."

He took a few deep breaths, trying to calm himself down until Fury cleared his throat.

"What?"

Fury makes a slashing motion across his chest, indicating for Peter to put his seatbelt on, making me snicker.

"Oh, right."

Peter tugged on the seatbelt a few times, but it was stuck, and despite our dire situation, I laughed a little.

It was pretty funny, after all.

After a few attempts at loosening it, Peter tugged on the strap so hard that it broke off.

I snorted, laughing loudly while Peter started at Fury, looking extremely nervous.

Fury didn't say anything, but pulled the car into a fancy looking building, and we quickly walked inside.

We entered a conference room where I found Maria Hill waiting, and Fury crossed his arms over his chest, impatiently looking at us.

"So, is there anything you want to tell us about your girlfriend?"

"Uh, not that I know of?" I responded, but it came out as a question.

"He's talking about Edith." Hill clarified, making me nod.

"Fair enough."

"Look, I know I made a mistake, and I'm sorry, but he is not who you think he is." Peter said, looking at Fury.

"Beck is a liar. Mysterio, the Elementals, it's all fake. He has some sort of illusion tech, and that's how he tricked you guys and he tricked me into giving him Edith." He explained, and I pulled out the projector, sliding it across the table.

"It's a projector." I said, and Peter nodded.

"I pulled it off the fire monster in Prague." He said, making Fury give us an unconvinced look.

"So all that death and destruction we witnessed, was caused by this?"

"No not just this, we think he's using drones." Peter said, and Fury sighed.

"Well, if this is true, then Beck's very dangerous and we need to be smart." He said, looking between the two of us.

"Who else did you tell about this?"

I opened my mouth to respond, but Peter grabbed my hand, looking stressed.

"Phoenix, I love you." He said quickly, and I felt a sense of dread in my heart.

Peter could sense something.

He could sense Beck.

"I love you too." I rushed out, and Fury looked on edge.
