~Hogwarts - Sixth Year~

Remus was having a really bad day today. The next full moon is two days away and in the days leading up to his transformation, he is extremely sensitive. Not just emotionally, but all his senses. All sounds are amplified as if they are being yelled into his ear. Every time someone touches him or he knocks his hand on the corner of the table, it feels similar to waking up after the full. He can smell things from miles off, he always knows when dinner is being made because even from the Gryffindor tower, he can smell the food in the kitchens. All lights are too bright and he keeps getting migraines when things move too fast and he can't focus on them. His taste buds seem to be on triple times power, he can practically taste every ingredient that goes into foods.

After having rounds of prefect duties and tutoring some first years, Remus was finally able to go back to his dorm. It wasn't even that late at night and almost everyone was still awake, but Remus felt exhausted. The rest of the Marauders had already retired back to the common room hours ago since they don't have to tutor first years and they aren't prefects.

He left the library and walked down multiple long and empty halls. Then, after turning the last corner, he reached his least favourite part of the walk back to the common room. The stairs. Everyone knows the Gryffindor common room and dorms are in a tower, meaning there are about a million steps they have to go up just to get to their beds. Well, it was only on the seventh floor, but to Remus, this felt like it would take forever to get up all these stairs. So, after taking a steadying breath, he put his empty hand on the stone railing and started the climb.

What felt like hours later, Remus' thighs were burning from all the effort it took to go up the stairs, and he was out of breath. He stood at the top of the stairs for a few long minutes, catching his breath, before stepping forwards, in front of the painting of The Fat Lady. After barely being able to mutter the password due to his complete loss of energy, the giant portrait swung open and Remus somehow managed to step through.

The sound of people talking in the common room was piercing his ears. He wanted to rip them off so he wouldn't have to hear all the noise. All he wanted was a little bit of comfort and to be able to rest. Luckily, one of the first people Remus spotted in the common room was Sirius. The long haired boy was sitting on one of the empty sofas, his back leaning on the arm of the sofa as he levitated some first years' quills, making them do a little dance in the air. Remus always admired how well Sirius got along with the younger students. Remus assumes that Sirius acts like the older brother he never really got to be for Regulus.

"Hey, Re," Sirius smiled, looking up at Remus who was walking over to him.

"You good?" Sirius asked, but yet again, Remus didn't respond.

Sirius was too concerned about how Remus was feeling, that he forgot about the first years' quills. They could tell something was up and the Marauders were the closest friends they had ever seen, so they didn't interrupt.

Remus didn't have the energy to respond, he just dropped all his books and bag onto the floor next to the sofa and plopped himself down next to Sirius. Finally, his legs felt a little less sore. He leaned on the back of the sofa for a minute of two, staring at the fire, lost in thought, before he shifted positions. He flopped down sideways and then turned so his face was buried into Sirius' chest. Sirius didn't mind, he just wrapped one arm around Remus' back and put the other hand in Remus' beautiful light brown curls.

He could feel Remus murmuring something into his chest but since Sirius couldn't tell what he was saying, he just bent his head down a bit and placed a soft kiss on the top of his hair. Sirius was sure Remus had fallen asleep when he could feel the murmuring stop and more steady smooth warm breaths were lingering on his chest.

That's when he came back out of Padfoot and Moony world and back into reality. More than half the common room was just staring at them. Ah, Sirius thought, well we're fucked. You see, they hadn't come out to anyone other than James, Peter, and Lily.

He felt quite embarrassed, but he would never show that. Also, the most important thing to him was that Remus was happy and comfortable, and he knew if Remus was awake he would not be happy or comfortable in this situation. He had to find a way to get people to stop staring. Sirius figured he'd carry Remus up to their dorm, but he had to make an intervention first.

"Is that James out the window? With Peter hanging off the broom? Pete! Don't let go!" Sirius yelled at a window that just had the dark sky on the other side of it.

Everyone in the common room other than Sirius and Remus turned to look out the window. As they did, Sirius quickly stood up, carrying Remus bridal style, and ran as fast as he could up the steps to the boys dorm. It wasn't too easy because Remus is a lot taller than him and also has more muscle so he's heavier, but Sirius still managed to make it to the dorm before anyone noticed they had left.

Once in the dorm, Sirius noticed that neither James or Peter were in there. He figured they must be playing a prank of stealing food from the kitchens to have a midnight snack. Sirius lay Remus down on the bed marked 'R.L' which conveniently happens to be the closest one to the door. He then pulled the covers over Remus who kept drifting in and out of sleep.

Just as Sirius was walking away to his own bed, he heard a mutter from behind him.

"Stay..." Remus muttered, almost inaudibly.

Sirius just gave that goofy, loving, and beautiful smile that Remus loves, before climbing into Remus' bed.

Remus snuggled up into Sirius' chest, muttering random things in his sleep. His curly hair tickled the bottom of Sirius' chin as he tilted his head down so his face was buried in the hair. Remus fell asleep that night wrapped in his boyfriend's arms, while Sirius fell asleep that night with the sweet scent of his boyfriend.

It's safe to say both of them woke up the next morning being very well rested.
