CHAPTER 02 | Dance |

"You're so beautiful," Mae complemented me while we're dacing for the 18th candle.

"Thank you, thank you for coming," I said shyly. Traditionally, walang 18 candle dance, but I requested it to Daddy because I want to have a moment like this with my friend.

Tama ang hinala kong marami nga ang bisita, I'm still nervous kasi hindi ko alam ang mga susunod na mangyayari. My parents didn't allow me to mingle in preparation for my debut, sila lahat ang umayos. Tanging sayaw lang kasama ang pinsan kong si Drake, which happens to be my escort for this day, ang napag practice-san ko.

I own the spotlight that makes me feel so nervous.

"Chilax girl! Breath," Mae said. Mukhang napansin niya yata ang nerbyos ko o naramdaman niya ang panlalamig ng mga kamay ko.

"Thanks!" 'Yan na lang ang lumalabas sa bibig ko. "Hindi ko kasi alam ang mga susunod na mangyayari."

Baka nga sa araw na 'to pa e-announce ng parents ko ang engagement ko kay who knows who it is. Which sana, sana hindi mangyari.

This is the main reason why I'm not happy for this day. Cause instead of freedom I will be more jailed by their power against me.

"Aww ang bait." Niyakap niya ako bago pinasa kay Lian para sunod akong isayaw.

She gave me first the pink scented candle with white ribbon on it before hugging me.

"Happy birthday," she greeted and then we started dancing.

Pambansang linya para sa araw na 'to, "Thank you." I smiled at her genuinely.

"Ang bongga ng debut mo Bhei!" bulong niya sa 'kin.

"What will you expect with my parents?" I boredly said but still maintaining the smile on my face, cameras are all over!

From the chandeliers down to the floors, it's extravagant. I'm like a princess crowned as a queen sa sobrang ganda ng venue. Hindi na kailangang e-sigaw ang presyo dahil halata na lahat, mula sa damit ko papunta sa mga desinyo, pagkain at inomin, all are expensive. Somehow I felt guilty for those children na hindi man lang makakain ng three times a day.

"Sabagay, ang yaman n'yo kasi. You're one of the luckiest girl in the world," she said, I just smiled at Lian. Her beautiful long pink gown is looks good at her, it hugs her body perfectly.

If they see it as a luck? Then I see it as curse.

I danced with few more girls, my cousin, and mother.

Nang mag-eighteen roses na ay si Dad ang first dance ko. Pink is the theme so pink din ang rose which is my favorite.

"Time travel fast," seryosong saad ni Daddy.

"Yeah, I can't believe it Dad."

"You're growing, few more years baka hindi ka na sa puder ko titira," serysoso pa rin niyang sabi.

Something in my chest hurts when he said that. Pakiramdam ko pinapamigay na niya ako.

"I will always come to you, don't worry." That's the only thing I'm sure of.

Nakipagsaway ako sa mga pinsan ko, some are friends and hindi ko kilala ang iba. Maybe one of the sons of dad's business partners or friends. I don't know.

"Thanks Jayp!" paalam ko sa pinsang ika-labing anim ko ng sinayaw sa roses.

Medyo nananakit at nangangalay na nga ang mga paa ko.

But I was surprised to see who’s my 17th dance. It's him! The one who picked up my phone in the waiting area, 'yung masungit.

He gave me the pink rose with white ribbon on it. It was so awkward! I suddenly feel uneasy lalo na noong nilagay niya na ang kamay niya sa bewang ko. Lumunok muna ako bago dahan-dahang inilagay ang kamay ko sa braso niya para magsimula na kaming sumayaw.

It was really, really awkward! We slowly swayed to the music, I can feel his gentle touch on my waist, sobrang gaan ng kamay niya.

I couldn't look at him, and I don't know why! The insides of me battled up, in the end I choose to look at him. He's taller than me, hanggang baba niya lang ang abot ng noo ko, kailangan ko pang tumingala para lang makita ang mukha niya, paano na lang kapag wala akong heels?

He's handsome, he's fair, his eyes are cold and deep but chinky. He has thick eyelashes, his eyebrows are not that thick but looks good on himm He has pointed nose and a cherry like lips, his hair is not that long but it's perfect for him.

Umiwas agad ako ng tingin nang sinuklian niya ang titig ko. Sa lahat ng mga nakasayaw ko sa gabing ito, sa kanya ako pinaka-awkward.

"Ahm, thank you so much for bringing my phone back kanina sa waiting area," I said trying to build a conversation.

"It doesn't matter," he coldly said para bang pinuputol niya kaagad ang pakikipag-usap ko sa kanya. Confirm, masungit talaga siya. "Happy birthday." He said then leave me to my escort, my 18th dance, si Drake.

Nagsimula nang kumain, tila prinsesa naman ako ritong naka-upo sa trono ko sa taas ng stage kaharap lahat ng bisita. The orchestras filled our ears with their beautiful musics while we're eating.

Nagsimula na rin sila sa pagbigay sa 'kin ng mga messages including Mae and Lian, they all wish me a happy life.

My heart beat so dang fast nang sila Mom and Dad na ang tinawag para magsalita. Hindi pa man ako sigurado pero kinakabahan na 'ko. H'wag lang sana nilang e-announce ang engagement ko.

It's too early and I'm not ready. And I will never be ready. Saka isa pa, ni hindi ko pa nga na me-meet ang who knows fiance ko na 'yon. Well, wala naman akong pake roon.

"Good evening, everyone! Thank you so much for gathering tonight," paunang salita ni Daddy si Mommy ay nasa tabi niya lang, nakakapit sa braso ni Dad.

"This day, it's a very special day for us. It's the day that our only princess was born. My daughter, Rona Serene." Ngumiti ako nang bumaling si Dad sa 'kin.

"I don't have much anything to say, I'm grateful because she grow up as a beautiful, talented, smart, sweet, and a kind girl. She deserves to be the heiress of what we have. Norriente's Construction Material Company, this is your future." Dad's words are so powerful that it sent shiver down my spine. I know someday, ako ang magpapalakad ng kompanya, and it's really a hard thing to do, marami akong taong dapat isipin.

"Thank you so much again for coming, baka sunod engagement na ng anak ko ang sunod kong e-announce." Dad laughed like it's just a funny joke, pati mga tao ay nakisabay sa tawa niya. Ako? Hindi ko kayang tumawa.

Agad akong kinabahan sa sinabi niya, goodness!

Mabuti na lang at wala nang iba pang sinabi si Daddy. Medyo nakahinga ako nang maluwag, at least na delay 'di ba?

The night goes on, and became successful. Everything's fine.
