Thank you to @FyodorXD who requested!

A/N: I'm basing this off the series on how they meet and what they like in a partner for a better flow and an already made backstory in my head to make it easier for me. The requester gave me some leeway (besides the gender) that's why but if you are specific about your request then I'll do my best to fit your wants. After this story it'll be n/b reader again btw.

Nanami is 17 and in his second year. The reader is 15-16 and in her first year.

"Look more alive a little would ya Nanami-kun?" Haibara laughed playfully as he slapped his friend's back. It was much to the distaste of the slouching blonde.

"I just don't see why we have to go help Kyoto when they can take care of themselves just fine," Nanami grumbled. They were sent on a rescue mission of some sorts. The people on the mission hadn't checked in two days and the colleges were getting worried.

"Kyoto's residents are actually fewer than Tokyo's this year. And they've been pulling members for more higher missions. We're just extras," Haibara explained. "Besides we get to sight see Osaka now."

"You mean you're sightseeing. This is an absolute chore to me," he huffed as he trudged beside his friend.

"You know on the report they said that we'd be retrieving a first year. Kyoto only has one enrollee. It's probably lonely for them."

Nanami didn't say anything to that. As annoying as Haibara was to him, he couldn't deny that it was nice having someone that close to him. Of course he could rely on his senpais occasionally, but Nanami always felt like they were on a different wavelength than him. And thought he didn't count Shoko as being on that same wavelength as the two twin special grade troublemakers, he never truly held a conversation with her. Just a nice peaceful silence.

He only stopped when he felt his friend pause. Nanami glazed his lazy eyes at the building reeking with cursed energy. If it couldn't be smelled it could be seen. Tracks on the floor were dotting the building.

"Guess this is it."

Well no shit.

Haibara did that a lot. Stating the obvious that is. Just to fill the empty space. Nanami couldn't understand what the need was. He didn't mind the silence. But he didn't fully detest the noise.

Nanami raised his hand to place a curtain over the building, thinking that it was probably unnecessary. If they had someone like that idiot Gojo with them then maybe since he always made a mess of himself but Nanami thought this mission would be a quick one.

They walked up to the door, expecting it to be something flimsy but after Haibara jiggled the door for a full two minutes Nanami sighed for the third time that day.

"I got it." He stared at the door for a moment and watched as red lines start to form and the exact spot formed that he knew he needed to hit. He shifted his foot backwards, focusing his cursed energy into the soles of that foot and launched it, effectively flinging the doors open.

"You know for such a suave guy you fight pretty brutish," his friend observed.

"I didn't think a door needed something like a sword to open," he shrugged. It's not like he walked around with a katana or something. It was also a preference. "C'mon let's hurry this up."

The house in itself wasn't anything inherently frightening. To him at least. Long hallways that were dimmed. It didn't matter since he could see their weak points.

The most eerie thing about it was the cursed energy residuals that leaked out of each room, like glowing tar if that was possible. He glanced at his friend and paused. "Haibara behi–"
