"But father!" L/N Y/N protested.
"No! You will stay at home, in the palace, you are NOT allowed to swim to the surface!"
"You let Kiyoko, Hitoka, Alisa, Akane, Yukie, and Kaori go on their sixteenth birthday!"

Her father stayed silent as he looked at his daughter. His youngest daughter. She was growing up too fast.

"Fine. You know the rules. No more than an hour on the surface and whatever you do, don't interact with any humans. No one can know we exist," he sighed.

Y/N let out a little squeal before swimming over to kiss his cheek.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

She swam away quickly, off to find her friend Flounder.

"Sebastian?"

The crab scampered over to the King's side.

"Watch my baby for me, okay?"
"Yes, your majesty."

"Oh Flounder! Did you hear?! Father said I can go to the surface!"
"That's great, Y/N," he said, nodded excitedly.
"I can go too, right?"
"Of course you can! It's okay if humans see a fish!"
"Yay! This will be so fun!"

The two swam around in the ocean, collecting all kinds of strange objects.

"Look at this!" Y/N gasped.
"It's so cool!" Flounder nodded in agreement. "Oh, that reminds me. I have a seagull friend named Scuttle who knows lots about the human world and their weird gizmos and gadgets!"

Y/N's E/C eyes lit up. "Woah, we should go visit him when I turn 16 then!"
"Isn't that just tomorrow?"
"Yes! We should go see him tomorrow!"
