The New Directions and The Troubletones walk onto the stage. "What are you doing here?" Jesse asks them. "Shelby told us she had something to show us. What are you doing here?" Mercedes asks them. "Mr. Shue said the same thing." Quinn said to them. "Let me guess, he wants to combine choirs for Sectionals. Well, it's not gonna happen. The Troubletones are here to stay. So why don't you shuffle your busted choir off our stage." Santana said to them. "Look, you guys, we can compete without being enemies. All right? We don't have to get vicious." Finn said to them. "Oh, I think we do, Soft Serve. See, the Trouble Tones are 3F: fierce, femme, phenomenal." Santana said to them and she turns to her group. "Oh, and, guys, hurry up, go get some moist towels. We have to keep Finn wet before we can roll him back in the sea." Santana said to them. "Santana, that not funny." Jesse said to her. "You know what is not funny?" Mercedes asks making Jesse look at her. "Having someone fight you in the hallways." Mercedes said to her and they hear someone playing the guitar. They turn to see Will walking to them.

The song ends and the teens clap for them. "Mr. Shue, Shelby, I think we can all admit that was weirdly amazing. But what exactly was the point?" Sebastian asks them. "That sometimes bringing together two conflicting things can create something totally unexpected." Will said to them. "We're not combining Glee Clubs, Mr. Shue." Mercedes said to him. "That's not what I'm talking about. Shelby and I agree that with Sectionals coming up for both of us, it's time we all got serious with some friendly competition." Will said to them. "Each group's going to put together their own mash-up to perform head-to-head." Shelby said to them. "For the first annual McKinley High..." Will said to them. "Mash-Off." Will and Shelby said at the same time making the teens clap and cheer for it.
