War

My eyes looked around as I realized the terrible view in front of me. The ground was all cracked, the view of what was supposed to be a mountain was destroyed. This war has completely changed the landscape altogether, the power is more than what a mere mortal can handle, even tough for a Hokage.

From time to time I felt the ground shook under me as I saw attacks being thrown to one another, loud crashes and bangs, the shine and glow of multiple coloured lights here and there. To say it is hell on its own is an understatement, if this is what it means to experience war then I wonder deep down why anyone would ever want to start it. Was Obito pushed to the end to really have this as his last approach?

I managed to get a clear view of what was in front of me, though now all that's left is to look for Obito."Ah I guess this scope is made for this use after all" I said as I took out my far range scope, gently placing it over my left eye. I pushed aside my hair and adjusted the view, closing my right eye to enhance focus. As I opened my left eye and zoomed in, I could see everything. The war is still ongoing, I could see all the ninja, battling against the ten-tailed Jinchuriki...who was...

Obito?

Obito's skin, which was a beautiful olive tan now has become pale green, along with his hair which is now all white. Two thorns grew outwards from his forehead, his collarbones and back also had big thorns growing out of them. Seven black levitating balls surround him, which are now shaking violently due to the battle against all the ninjas.

"Why the fuck is he a Jinchuriki..." I said under my breath as I moved and ran towards him. I watched in horror as I saw them tugging on the tailed beasts which were being sucked into the shell of the ten tails, altogether combining the power of their workforce.

Why...why is he the Jinchuriki? If they extract it from him. My eyes widen as my feet stopped, I froze in place as I saw the tailed beasts being pulled out of him.

"If a Jinchuriki gets its tailed beast pulled out, they will die"

I watched as Obito gave into exhaustion, battling against so many ninjas who have combined forces. Obito's eyes look lost and empty as if he has given up all hope but just to rely on the Genjutsu itself.

"Obito..." I said quietly under my breath as I ran towards him.

Fuck, this idiot.

Obito you fucking idiot.

Stop, stop...

You're going to die

Every step I took felt like I was running in slow motion, everything in front of me, the horrific view of the death of my very lover, displayed in front of me. Obito, wait, please, wait for me. As I ran towards Obito I thought about what Nagato had told me shortly after reuniting with all of them.

*FLASHBACK*
"Tobi looked horrible after your death, Deidara..." Nagato said as he leaned back onto his chair, his frail body lightly shaking from the sudden move. The fingers of my hand traced the side of the table, not really knowing what to say. "In Akatsuki, that is not how you normally react to the death of a partner.." I stated briefly, not knowing what else to say.

"So you're saying you didn't chug down sake after my death as a celebration?" Sasori asked as he looked at me from the side of his eye, his fingers wrapped around his yunomi, lightly gripping his tea. "I missed your nagging, but you're not much for me to grief..." I smiled as I grabbed Sasori's yunomi, chugging it down.

"MY TEA.." Sasori said in horror as anger started to show in his eyes. "Deidara you fucking-" I cut him off by putting down the empty bowl. "You're a puppet you don't need to drink..." I said as I rolled my eyes and looked away.

"and you're dead? why would you need nutrients?" Sasori argued back, a light sigh from Kakuzu could be heard before he got up and started walking to the door. "I enjoy these awkward moments with you all, but I think I had enough..." Kakuzu said stopping by the door frame before he steps out.

"Maybe he likes you.." Nagato says, his smile still plastered on his face. I looked at him and let out a laugh, but when I opened my eyes, it seems like Nagato was serious. I shook my head no, before continuing on to argue with Sasori, who is now even more pissed after I deliberately ignored him to listen to what Nagato had said.

Nagato, It seems like you knew a lot more than any of us do.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Obito.." I yelled out, in hopes he would turn to me. I panicked even more as I saw the tailed beasts slowly pulling out of him, one by one. If this goes on you'll die, Obito.
"Obito...Obito..." I yelled, the sting in my throat tightened as my voice breaks to yell any harder. I am out of breath and on the verge of tears as I watch Obito face defeat, which could lead to his death. One by one, tailed beasts got pulled out of him. The obvious exhaustion on his face showcased, along with an empty look in his eyes.
"Obito.." I yelled as loud as I could, I watched as Obito perks up. His head slowly looking back at me. I could see it as I got closer, his eyes lit up as I saw his lips moved.
"Deidara..." he mouthed, as his eyes widen.
All of a sudden, the flash of all of the beasts got pulled out of him, every single beast now flowed out of him. I watched as Obito yell out in pain, his back arched forward as his pale green skin turn back to its usual colour, his hair still remaining white.
As I watched this horrific scene, the tears that were long welled up in my eyes start to pour out. I yelled out in horror as I watched Obito was pushed away by the force of the extraction, his frail body now almost fully damaged.
In a swift motion, I reached into my clay pouch, forgetting that it was empty. I cursed myself as I ran towards Obito. I watched as his body fall down, the pressure of the dropping atmosphere pushing his body upwards, his hands spread out.
I ran and jumped, hearing cracks of stone underneath my feet as I used all my chakra force to push myself upwards. As I got closer to Obito, I reached out, only to notice that my dispersed hand can no longer grip strongly onto anything. I pushed my body forward as I grabbed Obito with my arms, wrapping my body around his. Just then, I looked down and noticed that the ground was too low for me to avoid the damage now. With all my might, I held onto Obito.
I closed my eyes as I hear the sound of impact and felt the scratch of it behind my back. I can't feel pain as a reanimation but I could feel touch and surface scratches. I gripped Obito's warm body, preventing any damage to get to his already weak body. My grip tightens around Obito as I slowly opened my eyes. The rough hit from the impact had caused my vision to be a little blurry, I felt a heavy weight on my body and I noticed it was the weight of Obito.
"Obito...I'm here...I'm..I've come to you.." I said quietly as my throat still hurts from all the previous hard yelling.
Tears streamed down my face as I looked at Obito. I slowly got up and moved my hands towards the back of his head, slowly laying him down. I looked at Obito's unconscious body, his eyes closed shut, his lips slightly parted. My hand reached for his chest, where I could feel the light pumps of his heart which was thankfully still beating. My eyes scanned his body to look for any obvious scars or wounds. Thankfully just a few scratches and light wounds around his arms and feet.
"Obito...it's me, I'm here..." I said quietly as I pulled him close to my chest. My voice cracking as I try to comprehend how to keep him safe, in this damned war zone. I gripped onto his warm body as I sobbed, wishing this all to be over. My hand moved to hold onto his, as I attempted to keep his hand warm. However due to the fade of my fingers, I am unable to intertwine them with his, I moved up a part of my arm, allowing his hand to lightly rest on it. I observed his hands which were now bruised, his knuckles bleeding. I can't blame him, having the beast extractions done, It is expected for him to be in such pain and damage.
"Obito..." I sobbed as I pulled him close to my chest, my face buried into his white hair. As my tears continue to fall, I couldn't help but feel like all of this is my fault. If only I had been more careful with my life, Obito wouldn't have gone this far to sacrifice himself like this, I would say this was going this far. I felt a light grip on my left arm, which was in Obito's hand.
"Deidara..."
