(A//n: So you probably don't care but I re-did the cover of this story. *Yay*)

It wasn't long before her father picked her up an hour before the dance. I quickly cleaned up our mess and got out my dress. (That rhymed-) It was more casual but enough for a school-held event. I put it on and decided that leggings could go great with it. I went to my closet and found some black dress shoes that I used to wear at my old school. I remember it like it was yesterday. Whenever Jackie, Brandon, and Clover picked on me relentlessly in the orphanage. I wonder what they're doing now that I'm gone. Probably betting if I'm going back or not. It doesn't matter to me anymore. Hopefully, they've become better people. Maybe they haven't. If they would still judge me or others about who I am. They were jerks back then but I'm older and still have a lot to learn. If it wasn't for them I wouldn't be who I am if I'm being honest. I'm not glad they did it but it shaped me into a better person. I remember them as I put the shows on carefully one after the other. I did my makeup as if it was nothing before going downstairs to see what dad thought of it.

"Dad?"

"Yes, sweetie?" He said from the kitchen.

"What do you think of this?"

He looked at me in awe.

"I see we have a beautiful young lady. You look amazing dear!"

"Thanks. Whatcha doing there?"

"Trying to work on the bills. Nothing special really. Are you ready to go?"

I nodded in response fixing a part of my hair.

"I was about to ask you to do that! Can you help me with this?"

I wore a headband with a blue bow on top of it and it wouldn't stay up. He quickly went over and fixed it the right way.

"There! It's perfect! Now let's go then!"

He found his keys and lead me to the car. I got in shotgun and buckled and so did he. When we were secured, he started driving to the school. He looked nervous for some reason. Maybe it was just parental instincts or he had a bad feeling about any of this. Honestly, I wouldn't blame him.

"So." He began. "What are you going to do about that crush of yours?"

"I've been thinking about it for a while now. I decided that it was best to get to know her more to see what's she's really like you know. I'm going to try to keep it at a low level for now."

He smiled as he glares out the window.

"That's my girl."

When we arrived he stopped the car and gave me a small keychain with pepper spray on it to put on my purse.

"What's this for?"

"Just in case. You can attach it to that purse of yours if you like. Sides' knowing people these days I just want you to be safe out there sweetie. Is that alright with you?"

"Yeah, better safe than sorry I guess. Thanks, dad." I said hugging him.

"No problem! I'll be picking you up around 9:30 alright."

"Alright, bye dad!"

"Stay safe Luna!" He shouted as I left the car.

"I will!" I shouted back.

The minute he drove off I clipped it onto the purse that I carried. I went through the gates and saw the students scattered into small groups of their own. I was soon tackled into a hug by Evie.

"You're finally here! I thought it was just going to be the four of us for a moment!"

"Wait the four- Don't we have like six people in our group?"

"Yeah, Skylar isn't here yet but I'm glad you showed up!" She cheered. "Hey Luna, wanna put Brody and Addi in the prison? I have just the dollars for it." She pointed at the little box prison that said 'A dollar per. person' on it.

My grin grew wide as I saw this as an opportunity. I nodded as she gave the money to the person. We soon chased them down and got them in there.

"How long is this again?"

"Depends on how long you take."

"Damn you-"

I realized what she had planned. It was for her to confess in that little prison. It wasn't going to work but she kept her hopes up.

"Just let us out already!" Brody shouted as his face turned cherry red.

I couldn't help but snicker at the sight. Then Jackson came up to me, he seemed nervous for some reason.

"Hey, Luna,"

"Oh, Jackson! What's up?"

"I just wanted to know if you wanted to dance with me. Y-you, don't have to if you don't want to." He mumbled.

I could feel my face heat up as my head panicked. I couldn't help but notice how cute he looked, fairly unsure of my answer and scared of rejection. His eyes darted to the floor nervously. His face blushing madly. I knew I would regret it if I said no to the poor fella. I gulped deciding that I should do it. Just to see what happens.

"You know what, sure! I'll do it." I said with a grin.

"Really!?" He said looking at me like an excited puppy.

I felt my heart pang in my chest. This man was sure cute when he's excited.

"Yeah! It'll be fun for the both of us!"

I took his hand and danced with him as the music came in. Soon enough Evie let the other two go since she almost ran out of money. It was around fifteen minutes later when we stopped dancing and decided to go to the games section. It wasn't until Skylar came.

"Hey did I miss anything?"

"No, not really, you're just in time!"

"That's good. What are you do doing?"

"Playing cornhole I think. (I swear my school has this game every time at school events-)" I said tossing one of the blue bags in and missing for the fifth time.

"I win!" Jackson said excitedly.

"Again!?"

"You bet!"

"How did you even-"

"Skill. You should try it! Come here I'll show you!" He said with a smirk.

After that, the night became a blur of good memories with them. They make me happy and hopefully I did the same for them. Maybe it was good when I realized that I see them as nothing but my best friends. That's all that matters for now.
