Chapter 34 Finally (The End)

Soon the party came to the end and we'd have to go home. I called my dad and he was on his way. At the party, Evie was too busy third-wheeling Addi and Brody that she'd barely noticed what was happening with us. It was funny to glance at her and see that she was trying new ways to get them to happen.

"So some party huh?" Skylar said leaning against the wall right next to me.

"Yeah sure was, wasn't it."

"Yup. It was fun though. Hanging out n' stuff."

I took a glance at her. She wasn't wearing a dress. She wore a red short sleeve shirt along with black ripped jeans. Her light blonde hair blew with the light breeze. Her calm blue eyes we're almost hypnotizing for me to look at. It was one sight to see. I felt that fluttery feeling in my chest again as my cheeks went red. Why am I feeling like this? I thought I wanted her as a friend! I turned my head back over to the grass knowing that she'll never like me back. Or...

"Hey, Luna? I know this might be...new but I need to tell you something."

"Hm? What is it?"

"It's just that. Well you know- Ugh! What I'm trying to say is that...I like you."

My face flushed a deeper red as I felt my heart pang again.

"Really?"

"Yeah, I understand if you don't like that sorta-"

I couldn't help myself anymore. This wasn't real. Was it? I didn't know. If this was a dream...I never wanna wake up from it. I grabbed her chin gently and stole my first kiss from her. She didn't get it at first but then followed. It felt like it was forever until we let go for air. We both were breathless. Finally. This was it. How is this happening?

"Don't worry. I don't mind if we started something new." I said slyly.

"Do you mean it?"

"Of course I do. I feel the same about you after all."

"Then why didn't you say something about it?"

"I was afraid...that you might reject my feelings. So instead I kept it to myself."

"Afraid of rejection?

"Yeah."

"Well, like a friend of mine once said sometimes you have to shoot your shot. If it doesn't work out there will be other opportunities. You know what I mean?"

"Of course."

Our conversation ended whenever her parents showed up in a shiny blue car. They had something going on so I wasn't one to judge.

"Oh, that's them! See you tomorrow sweets." She said kissing me on the cheek.

"Yeah, see you tomorrow!" I said waving her off.

I held my cheek as I realized what just happened. Skylar just became my...no this wasn't happening?! It's just my head messing with me again! It had to be! But no. She became my girlfriend within a small amount of time. I didn't know how to feel about this. Happy? No...excited.

"Awe! You two are cute you know that Lu?" Violet said coming out.

"Ahhh! You got a girlfriend! And your first kiss even!"

"I can't wait until you two fuck each other~" Raven purred in my ear.

"Raven! No!" Hazel hissed. "Not now. Besides that, I'm not happy for you."

"I gotta say that's one way to get a princess!"

"I'd say more of a schoolgirl who just so happens to have a crush on you and she finally confessed her feelings to you," Sage spoke blankly. "Either way. This is a big deal that we'd need to take seriously."

"Good point guys. I'm just so excited! What should I do!?"

"Think about having a date with her we could plan tonight even!"

"You have all the time in the world sweetie," Harper said excitedly.

As soon as they went back dads car pulled up. I quickly got in and I couldn't help but smile.

"You had a good time sweetie?"

"Yeah! Guess what happened to me?"

"Hmm?"

"You know Skylar right?"

"Yeah,"

"Well, she's my girlfriend now!"

"She's your what!?"

"Girlfriend!"

He made a squeal as he started to drive.

"So did you do it?"

"No, actually she confessed. And then we kissed before she left."

"That's great to hear sweetie! I'm glad things worked out for you!"

"Yeah. Besides that the party was fun. Even though Jackson beat me at cornhole a bunch of times."

"Heh, what am I ever gonna do with you?" He said with a small giggle.

I stuck out my tongue playfully as we pulled into the driveway.

"Do you want me to order pizza for dinner?"

"Sure! I'll be in my room if you need me!"

I went upstairs and changed into more comfortable clothes. It was the beginning of the weekend after all so I just changed into a sweater and sweatpants. I went to my bed and finished some math homework listening to music.

~A few minutes later~

"Luna! Dinner's ready!"

I shut my laptop and went downstairs to eat. I grabbed two slices and went over to the couch to watch some sort of movie that was playing.

"I'm guessing it's Roman's pick tonight?"

"Yup," Virgil said sitting on the floor in his onesie.

"So how was it?" Patton asked me.

"It was fun! I'm glad I went!"

"Good! I'm glad you had fun kiddo!"

I sat there making small talk until Roman told us to hush so he could watch the newest Disney movie that he'd watched twice already. I finished my food and stayed there until the end of the movie. I couldn't help but look back at that night. It was fun and it made me happy. I didn't remember being that happy at a school event. Not to mention that me and Skylar we're a thing now. It felt too good to be true. Did I do something wrong? Should I have done something else? I didn't know. As soon as the movie ended I went to my room and sat on my bay window curled up into a ball looking out at the sunset before it became night. My hands naturally fell onto my moon necklace as it messed with it. I smiled blissfully as the moon came out again.

"Sweetie? Are you ok?"

I knew it was my dad at the door as I heard his voice linger in my room. I didn't know if he was worried or curious. I didn't mind. At least he cares. Now I knew that I was safe and at the home where it wants me to come back to. I may be adopted but he's different. He's my real dad. I wouldn't change it for the world.

"Yeah, aren't the stars beautiful, Dad?"

(Oh this was sure something. I'm kinda sad ending it like this. I might start a second book but who knows. I'm glad that this got like 2k reads. I was not expecting it at all and I just wanted to say thank you so much for reading whatever this is. It's like the second fanfic I actually finished and Haven't given up on so I'm happy!
