America's POV

He walked down the street, eyes fixed on the gray concrete of the road. Small puddles from the last rain reflected the neon lights of the city turning them into a senseless blur of bright colors. He ignored the sound of the cars passing by, the murmur of the crowd that walked quickly to the metro station and the music that started to blast from one building or the other.

He was tired.

It had been a long day at work and his mind was still ringing with the sound of his boss's voice screaming for a report, the taste of bitter coffee still fresh on his tongue and the sound of the keyboard of his office still plaguing his mind.

This cycle had ended. Finally. After an insufferable long week, this cycle was finally over and he could go home for the night, sleep without a care in the world, and have a whole weekend for himself.

He sighed.

He should be happy with the idea to spend a weekend relaxing, but something was bothering him.

He raised his gaze, taking his time to look around him.

The city was buzzing with activity, people getting out of their works, bars opening for the night and cars rushing down the road. Just like any other Friday night in the never sleeping city. There wasn't anything particularly different about this, just the old sight he had always known.

The feeling was still there.

He walked  to the bus station, to the back of the line, still trying to find the reason behind the alien feeling. He climbed the stairs without really paying attention, sitting in a free seat with a window.

He slowly drifted to sleep, his body tired and the same bugging feeling buzzing on his mind.

-------------------------

"Sir, excuse me"

The voice made him jolt awake, interrupting some weird dream he was having and making it dissolve into thin air as he opened his eyes.

"Sir, I have to return the bus now. You have to get down"

He didn't comprehend fully what was going on, so he just took his suitcase and mumbled an apology, getting off the bus and trying to see his surroundings.

He was in the middle of nowhere.

He shook his head, finally aware of his situation and jumping when the lights were turned down. He tried to run after the last man in the parking lot, almost tripping a few times.

"Hey! Wait!" He screamed, finally catching up with the other country, gasping for air.

"Sir. What do you need?" The man responded, clearly trying not to lash out at him. Apparently he wasn't the only one tired after a long day at work.

"Look, um... Finland" He read the name tag on the uniform of the driver hoping to reach for a feeling of familiarity. "Do you know if there's any way I can get back to the-"

The man just interrupted him.

"I'm going to be honest with you. There's no transport here around this hour, that was the last bus of the day and I just want to go home with my wife and call it a day."

Finland seemed to catch his defeated expression because he was quick to add something, clearly trying to cheer him up a little.

"There's a house at the end of the town that rents rooms for a night sometimes. I could guide you there if you want. Is on my way home anyway."

America weighed his options, finally nodding and following the white and blue country through the lonely dirt roads. Had he been so tired? Clearly he hadn't noticed the bus literally leaving the city, and now he was trapped in a small town he hadn't even heard of.
