~Rob's perspective~

"Sjoerd?"

"Glad you still recognise me."

I'm speechless. What is he doing here?

"Why- what..."

"Just in the area. May I come in?"

"I don't think-"

"Why you got some-"

"No, but-"

"Nonsense, you know-"

"No I don't think-"

"Obviously. But you can trust-"

"You said-"

"And now I'm saying something else."

How do we still talk like this? How do we still know what the other's gonna say? What should I do?

"I have to get to-"

"Just a minute."

"No, I'll be-"

"Have you ever been?"

"Well no, but-"

"We're wasting more-"

"That's the point."

The old tension was back. The tension that caused us to break up.

His head turns to the side, I keep my face straight. Don't do anything stupid. Show him you're not interested.

"Come on Rob-"

"I already said no-"

"But-"

"You already made your decision. Goodbye Sjoerd."

I try to close the door, but his foot blocks it. I roll my eyes. Of course, the familiar trope.

"Well it was a dumb decision."

I try to kick his foot away, but he pushes against the door, opening it again.

"Rob, please. I just want to talk."

"You didn't let me talk when I wanted."

"What was there to say?"

Check. I was almost finished. Almost check mate.

"I guess you'll never know."

Now it's his time to roll his eyes.

"Besides, you found someone new."

"I did."

Silence. More tension. What was my next move?

"So did I-"

"With-"

"And I'm in a fake relationship with Jesse for publicity."

Now it's his turn to be silent. He pushes himself back from the door frame he's been leaning on.

"Who's the other guy."

"No need to know."

His eyes narrow and his cheek bones become more prominent.

"Listen-"

"No you listen-"

"But-"

"LET ME FINISH FOR ONCE!"

The words leave my mouth louder than I intended, harsher than I wanted. But his mouth does close.

"You made it very clear that you didn't want me anymore. I did what I had to do and moved on. I have no reason to go back to you. So why don't you run back to your new boyfriend-"
