She's ruthless and can't be killed. So stay safe
The phone call with Sarah was a hard one to make, but it was necessary. It was decided that for the time being, Alyssa would stay with Dylan, after compelling her parents to believe she was staying with her aunt in Indiana. We had even thought of compelling the whole group to forget about us but Alyssa mentioned that she had kept Kiara, Sarah and Louis on vervain, so they couldn't be compelled.
"What's the plan now?" Alyssa asked.
If I was being honest, there was no plan. We didn't know how to kill Sheila. All we knew for sure is that she liked hurting us by hurting the people we care about.
"Klaus, do you think dad knew how to kill her?" I asked him.
"Well if he did, she wouldn't be alive right now," Klaus replied with a scoff.
"There is one way to kill a vampire, a stake through their heart. So why didn't she die?" Dylan asked.
"Maybe she isn't a regular vampire."
All eyes turned to me. Their expressions told me they were considering the possibility.
"If she's not a vampire, but feeds on blood and can turn the people she feeds on into vampires, then what is she?" Alyssa asked.
"She's a hybrid," Klaus replied, his hands folded, deep in thought.
"What is a hybrid?" Dylan asked.
"They're a mix of vampire and werewolf," I answered.
I remembered coming across this term back when I was a teenager, before turning into a vampire. My father was looking into this topic as part of his research, writing it into his journal. I vividly remember him carrying that old, dusty journal everywhere. "It's a collection of my thoughts." That's what he'd say whenever I asked him why he kept it with him all the time.
"Werewolf and a vampire? How does that happen?" Dylan asked.
"My father kept a journal-"
"Burnt with his body," Klaus cut me off. "He'd have wanted it to go with him."
"If she roamed Janesville for quite a while, wouldn't there be anything on the internet about her?" Alyssa asked.
She was right. All the people she killed, there must have been something written on her that was out on the internet. Alyssa immediately brought her laptop out as the rest of us gathered around her.
"The way she kills is unique, that's for sure," Dylan stated when we came across an article talking about her murders.
"Shapeshifter?" Alyssa reads out.
The article opened on her screen shows a picture of Sheila, down on her fours, back arched, claws sharper than knives and eyes, red, hungry for blood. She was labelled many things, from 'wolf' to 'werewolf' but the word that stood out the most was 'shapeshifter'.
"Shapeshifters come in many forms, all linked by their werewolf side. Once bitten by a werewolf, they become one too, turning only on the full moon and living the other days like a human. A hybrid, vampire and werewolf, can turn whenever they please, but are controlled by the dominant side. Sheila Winston, the rogue mass murderer is also a hybrid, dominated by her vampire side. She's ruthless and can't be killed. So stay safe." Alyssa read out, her tone signaling her loss of interest towards the end.
"Well, that just confirms we can't kill her," I sighed, giving up.
