Paege

What the heck?

There was an unmistakable pounding in my head and my cheeks felt like they were on fire.

Where was I?

I tried to open my eyes but it stung at the slightest glare.

My eyes may have failed at the moment but my senses were fully intact.

I tried to move but something was holding me back.

An arm held me at the small of my back to be more specific.

Fear instantly struck me.

It had been a while since I had been conscious so there was no telling what could have happened to me.

I felt strong muscles against me, trapping me in place.

I was captured.

Did my captor think it was amusing to cuddle with a cripple?

At least, I hoped it was temporary because once I recovered, nothing would stop me from breaking free.

And then what? After you escaped, then what?

I couldn't help but feel hopeless at that moment.

I had no idea where I was being held or what my captor was capable of.

So that narrowed my chances to a slim chance of escaping.

I felt overwhelmed and a muffled cry escaped my lips.

It was not at all what I expected.

Daniel.

Maybe I had called his name because I wanted to believe that I could overcome this.

That I could survive.

Maybe it was because I knew somehow that Daniel, had he been here would wrest me from my captor's arms and protect me.

Maybe I wanted to believe that he cared.

Daniel doesn't care for you, like that

He never has.

Once again, I tried to free myself from within the arms of my captor only to come out fruitless.

My body felt numb as I was pressed against the chest of the individual.

Daniel.

I couldn't help but cry out again though it hurt to talk because my throat was dry and my cheeks were inflamed with agony.

One last time, I tried to escape only to yield the same results as my prior attempts.

There was no way to free myself from my captor in my invalid state.

My hope began to subside with each passing second.

"Paege, you can try all you want but you won't be rid of me ... not after that stunt you pulled?"

My heart hammered in my chest at the familiar sound of that baritone.

Wait ... what?

Daniel

His arms circled me, pulling me closer than was possible considering how close we were.
