After everyone had left Ravenclaw Tower to meet their dates, or in Wren's case, to try and avoid an extremely persistent Sirius, Adelaide observed herself in the mirror one more time before Jaxson arrived.

She was pleased with her reflection and tried to give herself an encouraging smile that turned out to look more like a grimace.

This was the first dance that she hadn't gone to with Della and Alexander; instead, she had someone to accompany her who wasn't just a friend.

Honestly ... Adelaide didn't know what Jaxson was to her.

Over the last few days, they had been hanging out with each other, and she had found herself laughing with him and enjoying herself immensely.

But just went she was sure that something was beginning to bloom in her heart for Jaxson, James Potter popped his head back in and ruined everything.

She couldn't deny that James had somehow grown on her, quickly too, but so had Jaxson!

It wasn't fair to either boy, so Adelaide knew she needed to make up her mind.

"If only James had asked me earlier, or not asked at all!"

Brushing off invisible dust from her dress, Adelaide's pale blue eyes moved upwards to her strawberry hair.

Della had taken two long and slightly painful hours to do the braided crown style she had wanted to try out on her friend.

"You look like a princess, Adelaide," Came a voice, startling her out of the thoughts.

She spun around and saw Jaxson gazing at her with a bright smile.

He stepped closer to her and lifted a blood-red rose for her to see.

"For you, m'lady!" He said, bowing dramatically.

"Thank you. It's beautiful!" She said enthusiastically, covering up the fact that she disliked roses.

"Shall we be off?" Jaxson asked, holding out his arm for her to take.

Smiling at him, she put her hand on his arm, and they left Ravenclaw Tower to make their way to the Great Hall.

By the time they entered the party, most everyone was there.

Adelaide scanned the room and found Della and Peter quickly, huddled together at a table near the buffet.

She then spotted Lily and Severus dancing, obviously lost in their own little world.

Jaxson guided her towards the couple and pulled her close to him, placing both hands on her hips.

Adelaide tried to remember the dance lessons her mother had attempted to teach all of the Harthwood children in their youths.

Her eldest brother, Luis, was a magnificent dancer and would often tease his younger siblings about their inability to do a simple waltz.

Collier would then do something along the lines of jinxing his brother's shoes so that they wouldn't stop tapping or doing the jig.

Of course, this never made their mother happy, but such things were expected when it came to the Harthwood boys.

Jaxson chuckled at her as she watched her feet while they moved back and forth.

"Relax, Adelaide, just look at me," He said soothingly.

She did and was met with his enchanting gaze.

Smiling bashfully, she focused on the rhythm of the music and the feeling of her body swaying with Jaxon's.
