February 1978

The weather in the last week had gone from gray to white.

Over four feet of snow had fallen and now lay in a pristine blanket across Scotland's countryside.

And the students of Hogwarts were thrilled with the prospect of snowball fights and forts all weekend.

The Marauders, of course, planned out a full day of fun and were itching to start.

Peter had begged Della to come out and join in the activities, and she had begrudgingly heaved herself out of the comfortable chair she had been occupying by the fireplace in the library.

"Fine," She huffed. "But only because you are so adorable."

Peter heavily blushed and smiled at her, as they hurried to the field near the Quidditch Pitch where everyone was to meet up.

Alexander was busy doing nothing when Remus found him and quite literally dragged him away from the perfectly wonderful nap he had been enjoying.

Adelaide was another story.

She was down in the kitchens, whipping up a batch of Treacle Tarts when the Prewett twins poked their heads in and flashed her a pair of mischievous grins.

"Oi! Harthwood!" Gideon shouted.

"You're on our team! Come on!" Fabian motioned for her to follow them.

"On your team? What are we doing?" Adelaide questioned, taking off her apron and running after them.

"Snowball fight!" Gideon exclaimed enthusiastically.

"Yeah! Sirius said to come to get you!" Fabian said, glancing back at her.

Adelaide arched a brow in confusion at that.

It wasn't that she didn't like Sirius, she did; it was just that after the prank mishap that landed her in the hospital wing, he had been more or less avoiding her.

Well, not so much avoiding, as strategically sparing himself from having to talk to her.

"Right, what about Della and Alexander?" She asked, quickly weaving her strawberry locks into a braid to keep them out of her eyes.

"Don't worry!"

"They've already been fetched!"

Adelaide giggled as she followed the twins outside into the cold air and sunshine.

They found the others waiting for them, with four large snow forts glistening in the sun.

James and Sirius looked to be in the middle of a glaring contest as they got closer, and the Ravenclaw couldn't help but laugh at the face James was pulling.

"Oh, this is going to be smashing!" She said with a smile.

Hearing the sound of her sweet voice brought the bespectacled boy's attention directly to his dear Witch.

His eyes trailed after her as she walked over to greet her friends, and he fought down the surge of jealousy when she didn't say anything to him.

"Alright, Prongs?" Sirius whispered, gently nudging his side.

"Fine, let's get a move on," James replied gruffly.

"Okay, people! We are going to have four teams, so we need captains!" Sirius said loudly, drawing all eyes on him.

"Sirius and I make two. Who else wants to be captain for a team?" James asked, struggling to keep his eyes from the strawberry-haired girl standing across from him wearing a lavender coat and mitten with an oversized fluffy hat.
