CHAPTER 30

Author's POV

It was Wednesday today and the interns were waiting in the doctor's lounge for their head doctor. Meera entered a few minutes later and found five people engrossed in a conversation with each other. All of them looked up as she entered the room. Meera was shocked to see that one of Alia who was equally shocked to see her.

"Hey guys, I'm Dr. Meera Singhania and I know Dr. Mehra was supposed to be your in charge but she had to go out of town for some personal reason so I'm filling in for her. One thing you all should know about working here is that there is no place for slackers so I expect you all to be on your toes. Now I haven't read any of your file so why don't you introduce yourselves. 

A girl speaks up first. "I'm Ria and uh I want to become a pediatric surgeon", she says shyly.

"That's great Ria so why a pediatric surgeon"

"I like kids a lot i guess that's why"

"I'm Arjun Singh, you must have heard of my elder brother Suraj Singh, he's a famous actor."

"Well Arjun, I'm afraid I haven't but I want you to tell me about yourself not your brother", she says politely yet firmly . He turns a little red with embarrassment.

Alia speaks up, "I'm Alia and I want to become a cardiologist because the heart fascinates me, like how it falls in love-"

"Don't listen to her, she's a hopeless romantic. I'm Zain by the way."

"Hello Zain and Alia I hate to break it to you but falling in love more of a mental thing."

 The last girl introduces herself as Yashika.

"Your brother is Abhimanyu Malhotra right?", Yashika asks Alia and Alia nods. 

"Wait really, he is literally a celebrity. I've heard he's in a relationship, is it true?", Arjun asks Alia.

Before they can ask each other any more questions, Meera informs that their time is up and goes to explaining their duties for the day.

"I hope your duties are clear. you'll all report back to me at 7.30 ",Meera says and everyone files out heading towards their respective stations.

Its around noon and Meera is in her cabin, completely engrossed in a file. She hears her phone ring and picks it up after looking at the callers name. It's Nikhil.

Nikhil: I need a favor.

Meera: Well hello to you too. What do you want?

Nikhil: Are you free for lunch?

Meera: Why?

Nikhil: I'll explain everything once you come here

Meera: And where is here?

Nikhil: It's the café opposite to our office. Please come. I wouldn't have called if wasn't urgent

Meera: Ok, I'll be there in half n hour.

Nikhil: Awesome, bye.

Meera puts her phone in her bad and heads towards the café.
