.5. adam sandler

It's been a week since Clay offered me a job, and I've been at his house almost every day since then.

I can't say that I've been working. I got a little work done for a thumbnail, and I joined a merch call to talk about designs. But I've mostly just been hanging out with Nick and Clay.

Nick and I have grown a lot closer since we started hanging out. I think I would even consider us pretty good friends now.

I'm sitting on Clay's bed right now, scrolling through twitter. We finished a call with the merch company about thirty minutes ago, but he kept talking about something he saw online so I stayed a little longer.

"I just can't believe someone would-" he pauses when he hears a knock on the door. "Hello?" he says.

"It's me." A voice that obviously belongs to Nick says from the other side of the door.

"Who's me?" I joke.

"Shut up," I can hear him laugh a little bit, "can I come in?"

"Yeah," Dream calls out, "what's up?"

"I just wanted to hang out. I felt lonely." Nick shrugs as he sits on the floor next to the bed.

"Don't you have a stream to set up for?" Dream asks, slightly spinning in his desk chair.

"Yeah, I have like ten minutes," Nick checks his phone for the time, "Are you joining?"

"I think so," he nods, then turns to me, "unless you wanted to go get food?"

"No, I'm not hungry. You should join the stream. I'm going to finish this thumbnail," I point my head towards my laptop sitting next to me. I just had to put on some finishing touches.

"Will you still be here after the stream?" Nick asks. I notice a hint of hope in his voice and that makes me happy.

"Probably not," I shrug before falling back on the bed. In all honesty, I was exhausted.

"Oh, I was hoping we could watch a movie," he says, then adds, "all of us, I mean."

Something in my stomach flutters. I glance up at him to see him giving a wary glance at Clay, who is glaring at Nick.

I don't think I like Nick like that, but for some reason I keep getting stupid butterflies when I'm around him.

"We could," I sit up, "it just depends on what time you end stream."

"It's nine now," Clay says as he glances at his watch, "I'd say we'd be done at midnight max, depending on if someone else streamed."

I bite my lip. "I don't know about that. I have to edit and sleep."

"Another time then," Nick shrugs.

I'm kind of sad to not be able to watch a movie with them. I have to visit my parents tomorrow, so I won't be coming over to their house. But I'll probably be over again sooner rather than later.

I leave shortly after Nick starts his stream.

Once I get home, I finish up my thumbnail and send it to Dream for his approval.

I'm watching youtube when I get a message on discord.

Hey ik it's kinda late but i was wondering if you wanted to talk for a bit

I get an incoming call. I press accept. "Hello?"

"Hey," he says. I can hear him shifting to do something. "Would you maybe want to have a discord movie night? It's alright if you have to go to bed."

I smile. "Absolutely."

We ended up watching an Adam Sandler movie after he learned that was my favorite actor. We sit in a comfortable quiet as we watch the movie. At one point, he paused it to tell me a story then pressed play again. I had a lot of fun.

"That was really funny," he says after the movie is over.

"I'm telling you," I smile, "Adam Sandler is amazing."

"Sure, whatever," I can tell he's rolling his eyes at me right now.

"Don't be a hater," I say, "you're just jealous he's funnier than you."

"What? No way,"

"Yes way," I laugh, "Adam Sandler is amazing."

He lets out a little hmph. We're quiet for a few moments.

"Hey, could I have your number?" he asks, "I just realized I didn't have it earlier. That's why I called you in discord."

I smile a little bit. He wants my number?

"Yeah, of course," I send it to him on discord.

We talk for a little bit until we're both ready for bed.

I smile to myself as I think of our conversations while I rearrange my pillows.

I think I might have a small crush on Sapnap.

ik things seem a little dry rn but i promise they start to pick up after the next chapter.. im just trying to set the scene/relationship before we get into the juicy parts haha

i have a lot planned for this book and more keeps coming to my head
