On The Other Side Of The Wall {Sapnap x Reader}

Y/n Pov:

The caws of crows filled the silent home as the first rays of sunshine peeked in through the window, gliding across the floor as the sun rose higher into the sky. The air inside was slightly chilly, and my first assumption was that the fire had gone out during the night.

My face scrunched up slightly at the thought of how early it must be and tried to block out the limited light by forcing my eyes closed tighter than they were before. I finally let my face relax when I heard the sound of footsteps creaking the floorboards upstairs. I slowly opened my eyes, feeling them flutter shut again as my body tried to drag me back into sleep.

The sound of heavy breathing next to me is what convinced me to force my eyes to stay open. I shifted from the position I was laying on the couch in, glancing over the edge at the floor next to me. I found a grin spreading across my face at the sight of the fuzzy, white polar bear sleeping next to me.

As someone began to descend the ladder, Steve picked his head up drowsily from the wooden floor, his black eyes stared straight into mine as he slowly blinked. I gave him a soft pat on the head before he turned his head in the direction of the sound of someone making contact with the floor once more after climbing down the ladder.

I brought my hand over my mouth when my eyes forced themselves shut as I let out a yawn, stretching out my jaw. The sound of a second pair of feet stepping onto the wooden floor and the creaking of a chest is what caused my attention to finally shift toward the direction of the ladder.

Technoblade was rummaging through some chests, pulling out a couple of last-minute items before we got ready to leave. Philza stood next to him, I could hear him muttering quick questions, asking if Technoblade had certain items before we set out.

After spending much longer than we anticipated to get ready, Techno and I finally made our way out of the front door, ready to embark on our journey back to the SMP. Once we stepped outside the cold air immediately began to chew away at our skin.

"Before you two leave," Philza began, as he stood in the doorway with Steve next to his side. Techno and I gave each other quick glances before watching Philza run back inside for a moment, catching a glimpse of him looking through an ender chest. He returned with a trident in his hands, it was shining from the enchantments he placed on the weapon.

"Take this with you, maybe it will be of some use to you," the blond offered, holding out the shiny weapon towards me. I reached my hand out, carefully letting my fingers curl around the aqua-colored trident. I was mesmerized by the glow of it, feeling the power of it just by holding it in my hand.

"It's enchanted with riptide III, unbreaking III, and I just added mending to it last night," Phil said as he pet Steve, who was begging for attention from the old man by rubbing his head on Phil's leg.

"Phil, I can't accept this," I began to say before he cut me off by shaking his head. I felt bad because I knew how hard tridents were to obtain, let alone the enchantments as well. I didn't want to just take all of the hard work he had put into the weapon.

"Please take it. You'll need it more than I will," he insisted. I gave him a gentle nod of my head as Techno left down the steps to say goodbye to Carl, deciding against taking him with us where it could be dangerous. Steve lumbered over to my side, rubbing his head against my side.

"Thank you, Philza," I replied, shooting him a smile before looking down at the polar bear at my side. I let out a small laugh as I ran my hand across his smooth fur. I knew that he knew we were leaving, and I could tell he wasn't too happy about it.

"I'll be back soon, Steve. Don't worry," I whispered to the bear after leaning the trident on the railing and crouching down. I wrapped my arms around him, giving him a tight hug before rising back up to my feet, grabbing the trident once more.

We said our goodbyes, and I thanked Phil for the trident once more before Techno and I set off in the direction of L'Manburg. We turned back at the edge of the forest, waving one last time to Philza as he stood in the doorway with Steve at his side. I took a deep breath and looked to my brother, nodding before we turned away, walking deeper into the forest.

The snow crunched beneath our feet as we passed through the trees. I couldn't remember which way I had come on my way here, but then again I didn't even make it the full way as I had passed out before I made it to the cabin. Technoblade seemed very confident that we were heading in the correct direction, so I trusted him.

He kept calling himself the "human GPS" which I thought was a bit strange, considering he was only half-human, but I decided not to say anything to him about it. The sounds of the leaves rustling in the wind and distant calls of birds covered up the silence between my brother and me.

I felt a rush of adrenaline, unsure of what the future holds once I returned to L'Manburg, or I suppose Manberg now. I felt anxious about having to see Wilbur and Tommy again after our last couple of interactions didn't end well. Then there was another part of me that was excited to see Fundy and Tubbo, and most importantly, Sapnap.

My heart fluttered just at the thought of feeling his arms wrap around me, in a warm embrace upon our reunion. I also couldn't help but smirk at the thought the seeing the confusion on Dream's face when he found out I was still alive.

Ever since I left, the only thing I wanted was to be with Sapnap again. Now, I was fighting the urge of running ahead just to get back to the SMP faster, just so I could see his smile and hear his laugh one more time.
