SAGE POV
Soda and I walked downstairs; he walked to the kitchen to get us a slice of chocolate cake as I sat down in the living room. "God damn it." He groaned and slammed the icebox door. "What's wrong?" I questioned, "Someone only left one slice of cake." He mumbled,
"We can always share it."
"You sure?"
"Don't you remember when we all shared a small slice?"
"Yeah, how Two-bit was pissed off."
"When Darry gets off work, we are going to the pumpkin patch to pick and carve them." Soda's favorite holiday is Halloween. He came walking in with a plate and two forks. He sat down on the couch next to me. "Bon appétit," he let out and handed me a spoon. We chatted as it started to rain.
I looked out the window and smiled. I looked over at Soda as he smiled. "You smiled!" I cheered; I pulled him in for a hug. Soda and I did when one of us was sad; the other would try making each other smile. "How you feeling, kid?." I pulled him in for a hug. "First off, I'm older than you."
He said and put me in a headlock. "By a year, Soda." I fought back. Finally, he let me go and let me breathe even though he barely grasped me because I was smaller than him.
