It was a silent night filled with only the sound of my peaceful breathing. I couldn't stop yearning for another day to come because of him. He was always the reason why I enjoy opening my eyes every morning, why I'm not afraid to close my eyes when I sleep every night. Because I know, he will always exist in my tomorrows.
But suddenly, that hopeful thinking met its end.

Agad akong napabangon sa kama nang marinig ang katok sa pinto ko. Nanginginig kong kinuha ang baril sa ilalim ng unan ko at dahan-dahang lumapit do'n. Nobody will knock in the middle of the night because of my condition. Nobody is allowed to disturb my rest as per my Mom's order.
Mabilis kong binuksan ang pinto at tinutok ang baril do'n. Pero wala akong nakitang tao sa labas kahit luminga ako sa kaliwa't kanan ng pasilyo. Agad akong nakahinga nang maluwag do'n hanggang...
"Hmm?"
Napansin ko sa baba ang isang black box na may pulang ribbon. Agad akong nasabik dahil mukhang regalo 'yon ni Kuya Ed. Sabi ng mga katulong namin, bukas pa ang dating niya pero mukhang gusto niya akong surpresahin.
Kinuha ko ang box at excited na tumakbo sa pasilyong papunta sa kwarto ni Kuya Ed. Dahil sa kasabikan, mabilis kong napihit ang doorknob nang may malawak na ngiti sa labi.
"Kuya Ed! Nan--"
This terrifying sight slowly erased the smile on my face and built this enormous terror inside me. I wasn't able to make any sound upon seeing this headless body hanging from the ceiling, blood dripping down the floor. But in just a second, my knees lost its strength, tears started to flow as I covered my mouth with my hand. I was trembling due to the fact that this body looked familiar.
"Ku... Kuya Ed?" usal ko.
I was reaching out my hand to this headless body like a fool. I was convincing myself that this is just a nightmare. That it's not real. But suddenly, I felt something wet on my leg where I put the box. I touched it and looked at it. In that moment, I knew... I knew it was blood.
I was breathing heavily while I'm pulling the red ribbon. I was wishing... praying. But all of it were useless.
"N-no... Kuya Ed..." nanginginig kong sambit matapos makita ang ulo ng kapatid ko sa loob ng box. Wala sa sarili ko 'yong kinuha at bahagyang itinaas para kumpirmahin. "K-kuya Ed?"
