Smoke filled the air like a drug, blocking out any and all kinds of sun, painting the sky a black as dark as the night sky. A low groan came from the slowly awakening body that lay in a pile of rubble that had freshly been destroyed. A figure, heavily scarred and covered in blood, sat up weakily. Their eyes darted around the what used to be a battlefield. Vivid pictures flashed through their head as they attempted to recall what had happened before blacking out.

"Shig?" They managed to wheeze out.

The smoke was nothing to them, they had expeirenced worse than this due to their quirk. A few dying flames littered the area, burning the reminants of other destroyed buildings. Slowly, the figure rose to their feet. Everything ached. It felt like their entire body had been set ablaze in the few seconds of them being on their feet.

"Jin?" They called out again.

Once again, their eyes studied the scene. Blood, mud, dust, and flames covere the entire area. A creature lay on it's side, motionless, off in the distance. Bodies of innocent civilains scattered the ground as well. Children, mothers, fathers, too many to identify at the moment. Dust shot into the figures eyes, causing him to hiss and recoil. Gusts of wind slammed against his heated skin followed by a soft thump in front of him.

"We're too late."

He knew that voice. The male looked up and met eyes with Hawks, his childhood friend. Pity and sorrow washed over his once attractive amber eyes as he met his own friend's icy blue ones. Dabi perked up and whipped around to examine the area behind him. His heart dropped at the dismay.

He saw so many people he knew, each one holding a special place in his heart, all dead. Jin, pierced through the heart. Compress, crushed underneath a hunk of building. Endeavor, decapitated. Shoto, head crushed in, supposedly from the creature Dabi had once seen. Fuyumi, crushed trying to protect an infant, who was also crushed. But one body caught his eye, making his heart race.

Before he knew it, his feet were moving. From what he could see, they were breathing but not very well. All of hus senses seemed to shut down as he raced over to the other male's side.

"Shit, Tomura!" Dabi exclaimed as he dropped to his partner's side. "H-Hang in there, okay? We'll get help!"

Hawks was soon at Dabi's side, helping him remove the chunk of concrete that lay on top of the once deadliest villain in all of Japan. Bolting up, the winged hero spun around and raced off, calling for help. The scarred villain pulled the smaller cyanette against him, putting pressure on the heavily bleeding spot as he tried to spare his life.

"Come on, come on!" Dabi begged.

His scars began to burn. It was never exactly a struggle to keep his emotions inside and hidden from the world, but, at this moment, he felt like breaking. Tomura's head fell against Dabi's shoulder as his eyes shifted up to him. A soft yet sorry smile formed on his lips as he reached a hand up and brushed it along Dabi's scarred cheek.

"Dabi." Shigaraki muttered weakily.

Dabi's icy blue eyes shifted to his partner. Bloody tears caked under the edge of the scars underneath his eyes, slowly running down his cheeks. Tomura brushed what he could away with a soft, pathetic snicker.

"You know...you're so ugly when you cry." Shigaraki joked as he brushed another stream of tears.

Dabi made a soft choking sound as he attempted to laugh. His head leaned into Shigaraki's hand as he felt his leader's touch grow slowly colder and colder.

"Tomura...please," Dabi looked at him with despiration in his eyes. "Please stay with me. Hawks is getting help! W-We'll patch you up a-and we can live together forever! Just like you wanted us to! You...You just have to keep your eyes open for me, o-okay?"

A soft smile pressed onto Shigaraki's lips as he laid his head against his partner's shoulder. His hand slowly traced down Dabi's cheek and into his lap. His pinky reached over and nudged Dabi's hand weakily. The scarred male took it as a sign to slip his hand into Shigaraki's, holding it gingerly.

"Promise me something." Shigaraki muttered as he stared at their hands.

"Anything."

Shigaraki sighed softly, a soft cough following not too far behind. "What...was that song you would always sing? To cheer me up at night."

That song. It was his mother's lullaby for him. He used it to calm his flames down, he used it to reassure his love when he needed some sort of comfort. He never thought it would be this important in their lives. Taking a soft breath, Dabi held Shigaraki's head close as he began to sing their favorite verse.

"Two birds on a wire. One says, "C'mon!" and the other says, "I'm tired". The skys...overcast...and I'm sorry. One more or one less...nobody's worried."

Dabi's eyes fluttered shut as he felt Tomura's body get colder. Nonetheless, his weak, fading voice joined in.

"I'll believe...it all.~ There's nothing I won't understand. I'll believe...it all.~ I won't let go of your hand..."

As the last note carried out, a freezing feeling washed over Dabi. It was too late.

He was too late.

Touya bolted upright in his bed, drenched in cold sweat. His breathing was fast and heavy as his heart raced, not allowing him any sort of room nor time to breathe. He ran a hand through his hair as tears blurred his vision. Never in his life had he ever thought he would desire someone's love as much as he needed his. That was the one thing he had wanted in life. And he even managed to fuck that one up too.

Touya let out a choked sob as his arms wrapped around himself, hugging himself as tight as he could. He wanted to know he was okay. He wanted a sign. He needed a sign! Tomura had to be alive! He just had to be! There was no way he would just leave Touya alone like this on purpose...right?

Wrong...
