Trial At A River

Pale was the light emitted,
From the moon that has ascended.
Like hope shining so brightly,
Giving spark for the future of humanity.
But alas it is a luxury for me you see,
That even my life can't afford its fee.

A lantern is carried for the night,
Its fire is like wanting to still fight.
Ever raging and full of life,
Telling to never give up on this strife.
Though the fire may have kept me sane and entertained,
But the dinghy boat is waiting and I'm already waned.

Rowing requires unyielding tenacity,
It needs effort and capability.
And to move forward,
Taking risk is a standard.
Yet failures, doubts, and worries tore a hole in my heart,
Now emptiness resides within me and won't grow apart.

Water has the ability to submerge what is empty,
Anything that are void of air and sanity.
Its coldness is like melancholy,
Seeping through unannounced and untimely.
After this trial I'll be home and free at last,
Away from the leash of society and my past.
