Chapter 8: Treat me like your Girlfriend

For a few days, Yuigahama hadn't entered the club room whatsoever. I hadn't even heard her talk to Hachiman or Yukino for a while either. She wasn't sick, considering she appeared in class everyday like normal. However, she didn't come into the club room for the past few days, meaning that she most likely left it. 

Speaking of the club room, Yukino, Hachiman and I were all in the room, they were both reading a book and I swiped through my phone trying to entertain myself. There wasn't really much to concern ourselves with, Yuigahama wasn't in the room to strike up any conversations randomly, and obviously, the three of us are the LEAST likely to strike up a conversatio-

Yukino: "Did something happen between you and Yuigahama-san?" 

I should stop talking to myself in my head. Obviously, this question didn't concern me. Hachiman answered, 

Hachiman: "Nope, nothing." 

Yukino: "If nothing happened, I don't think Yuigahama-san would stop coming here. Did you have a fight?" 

Hachiman: "No, we didn't... I don't think." 

He closed his book. 

"Besides, isn't fighting something you can only do with people you're close to? So it wasn't much a fight as..." 

Yukino: "A dispute?"

"Nope, but not far off." 

"Then, a war?" 

"Wrong, and even further off." 

"So, an annihilation."

"Were you even listening? You're getting further away." 

"A difference of opinions, perhaps?" 

"Something like that." 

"I see. That can't be helped then." 

As they spoke, Hiratsuka-sensei opened the door and entered the room, which went unnoticed by Yukino and Hachiman. Did they forget how to use their ears? 

Hiratsuka-sensei: "What, Yuigahama's not here again?" 

Yukino: "Sensei, can't you knock?" 

Hiratsuka-sensei: "I did have some hope in her..." 

Completely ignoring Yukino, she walked to the other side of the table and sat in Yuigahama's seat. She rested her head on her hand and sighed. 

Y/N: "Um, Sensei... 

Hiratsuka-sensei: "Mm?" 

Y/N: "-did you want something?" 

"Oh, that's right! Y/N, about that showdown, let's make it a battle royale." 

"Between the three of us?" 

"You can recruit new members if you need to. Doesn't look like Yuigahama's coming back." 

Hiratsuka-sensei did her classic, swiping her hand through long hair, and sat straight with her hands laying in her lap. Yukino had looked over and replied, 

Yukino: "It's not as if Yuigahama-san has quit..." 

Hiratsuka-sensei: "If she doesn't come, then it's the same thing. Wasting time on kids with no drive is only for compulsory education. Anyone who doesn't have the will to attend need to leave."

Yukino exhaled and closed her book. 

Hachiman: "Um, I have neither the will nor the drive. Can I leave?"
