I'm trying out some new things, and as such this oneshot will be different from others. If you can keep that in mind, please enjoy, and thank you for being so patient with these slow updates.

I yawned, the daycare a dark place aside from the few night lights on. It was naptime now, but I couldn't fall asleep. "Starlight, why are you up?" A deep, rumbling voice asks. "Sorry, Mr. Moon, but I can't sleep. I usually have a lullaby to help me..." I answer, shyly, and look away.

He sits, gently laying me down again. "Then let me sleep for you, starlight. Please, get comfortable." He said, and I do as instructed. I shut my eyes and listen to his melodic voice.

"I've got miles of regrets and confusing friends,"

"But perhaps it's just my stupid head in the end, thinking should I wait here or make my way home." His voice was different, a lighter and softer thing compared to his speaking voice.

"You said go." You smiled softly, already feeling relaxed.

(You said go)

"Making up problems that don't exist, why do I let myself dream like this? We're floating away, my body's in space," He sang, and began to stroke my hair.

"We are going home..." He sounded slightly sad as he sang this, a tone of upset.

"Missing pieces of my skull, I'll sew on patches of my own soul. There's nothing you, or I, can do, so let the stars fall." I felt more tired as he continued to sing, like he was magic.

"Cause from up here the sky's my thoughts and we're all so small..." He watched you with interest, your small chest rising and falling softly.

"Meteor shower, quick take cover, but the hues in our hair compliment one another, I'd sell my own bones, for sapphire stones, cause blue is your favourite colour..." He remained stroking your hair softly, knowing it was one thing that helped you sleep.

"Missing pieces of my own skull, I'll sew on patches of my own soul."

"There's nothing you, or I can do, so let the stars fall, cause from up here the sky's my thoughts and we're all so small,"

Gentle snoring filled the room, you were asleep, but he continued to sing. Just in case.

We're all so...

"My heart and the earth share the same rule, it starts with love and it ends with you, but don't go outside, it's dangerous tonight,"

He smiled as he sang, watching you sleep peacefully. You were by far his favourite daycare child he'd ever seen, ever met, and you were his special star. His, and his alone. He'd protect you at every chance he could.

"Without me here, right by your side. Take it slow, you'll know, which way to go, sew up your skull, take your time, and we'll be just fine..."

Inside his head, a voice pipes up, sadder than it's usual jittery speech.

Missing pieces of my skull, I'll sew on patches of my own soul...

I miss home, don't you?

He frowned, and shook his head.

Standing up, he walked away from you and over to the jungle gym play set, which he climbed up and sat on top of, overlooking the sleeping children.

As he lay backward on it, staring the ceiling, one coherent thought drowned out the flooding memories.

Shut up, sun.

_______

A boy with golden blonde hair ran up to a boy with black hair, giggling. "Brother, brother!" He yelled, and grasped onto his arm.

The two were in a pizzeria, with animatronics singing and serving food. They looked friendly. "What is it, Sammy?" The boy asked. "Come meet my new friend, mark, come on!" Sammy grabbed Mark's hand, dragging him over to a golden bunny.

"Well, hello there! This must be your friend!" He said, voice oddly... Human. Sammy thought nothing of it, but Mark had a bad feeling. "Hey, I have an idea! How about we go backstage, so you can meet Sundrop and Moondrop?" He asked.

Mark opened his mouth to tell the stranger to fuck off, but Sammy was faster. "Yes, yes!" He yelled, and the man pushed open the backroom door.

"Then follow me..."

Moon jerked awake, and found himself in darkness. Right. Naptime was over.

He sighed, and focused in on what his brother was doing.

A small child, his star, was holding him by the hand and taking him over to a drawing. Moon silently envied the children rushing around, but didn't dare voice this to sun.

He opened his eyes, back in the endless void.

An echoing, booming voice filled the otherwise deathly silence. It was sun.

Tonight is another day...

_________

I hope that was good! I know it doesn't really make much sense, but I thought it'd be a good idea. So, uh, if you did like this and want me to do more things like this, please let me know!

This was actually kind of fun, mainly because I like the song.

Oh, yes, for those unaware, the song used is meteor shower, by cavetown. Alright, I have to leave now, but I'll publish another part later!

Bye!
