"There will be a day when it comes down to it."

Atlanta, three weeks before the major outbreak
"EVERYONE, STAY in your seats. We will be there in five minutes," Mr Elfwing said at the front of the bus.
Elaina had been waiting weeks for this trip to happen. All of the letters, all the permission slips and notices had been taken care off; now it was finally her turn to head to the CDC.
"Now, I want to remind you all not to plague the scientists with irrelevant questions," Mr Elfwing stated. "Only ask questions that are relevant to your school project."
"Remember, we are very lucky to be here on this trip. If you put one toe out of line, you will be sent straight back to the bus and I'll make you copy out of the dictionary."
Mr Elfwing's words faded out of Elaina's ears as they approached the CDC. Elaina had only ever seen pictures of the building before, but now it was real.
It was much bigger than she would've expected. The building, larger than the arena that was in the centre of Atlanta, was tall, with a spiral rooftop and large windows. The surroundings were very nice; sycamore trees and benches around every corner. As they turned into the entrance, Elaina took note of the many lanes that were there.
"Everyone, now would be the perfect time to put on your protective lab coats and face masks," Mr Elfwing said. "Remember, the blue part of the face mask goes on the outside."
"Sir, what about if you wear glasses?" Emma Talbot asked. "Won't they steam up?"
"Put the mask right up to the top of your nose," Mr Elfwing said. "Okay, everyone. We are nearly at the entrance. Stay seated until we have stopped."
Elaina looked outside her window. The nerves started to seep in; what type of things should she be expecting? When the bus finally stopped, Elaina was the first one to rise from her seat. She fastened the buttons on her lab coat and pulled her mask up. Mr Elfwing gave her a rare smile as she made her way outside.
"Okay, Elaina?" He asked.
"Yes, sir," she nodded. "Just nervous."
"These people may be geniuses, but remember they're human as well," Mr Elfwing replied.

"That's it everyone, stay together!" Mr Elfwing said as they headed into the CDC.
Elaina was busy taking in everything around her; the large billboards, the memorials of scientists who had worked at the CDC, diagrams, lights, trophies, and the biggest of all, a flight of stairs that looked like they were never ending. Elaina stood patiently, near the front of the queue, as they waited for a scientist to take them around.
