Chapter two

Hawker's POV

Hawker must had just sat their in shock, because Spider tapped him on the head and asked,
"Hawker, are you all right?"

"Hmm?" He asked, coming back to reality.
"Yeah, just tired. I think I'll go back to my house and get some sleep."

"Kay! See you tomorrow!" Spider called after him as he flew away.

Hawker did not go to his house, but went outside and up. He flew almost to the top of the hive, then landed, and paused to think.

Why?! I love her, even though that's forbidden. We both know we're not going to be able to be together, and is Wasp finds out, we'll both be killed. I was happy to be able to see her , even if it was just at night!

No. He decided. I will choose who I love, and that's that. I wish I could find a way to rescue her though. I don't even know where the flamesilks are kept!

But- he realized. I might know someone who does.

Flying to the top of the Hive to clear his head, Hawker was surprised to see Elfin there, growling her head off.

How did she get up here? Climb?!

" hello?" He asked.

"Hmmm?" Elfin looked up.
"Oh it's you! The one Dewdrop LoOoOoOoves!!!."

"Yes. It's me. How did you get up here?" He asked.

"I climbed. I'm the best climber at my school." Elfin declared.
"And I think I'm going to go to bed."
She turned, bowed slightly, which made Hawker a bit uncomfortable,
Then turned to leave.

That was when he did the craziest thing he had ever done.

"Willyouhrlpmerescuedewdrop?"
He asked, but it sounded more like a random jumble of words.

"What?" Elfin asked, turning around.

"Will you please help me rescue Dewdrop?"

"Yes! Of course. Wait— is this a trick?" She looked around suspiciously at Hawker.

"If it was, I wouldn't tell you. But it's not!" He added hurriedly.

"Yes then. That was what I was going to do." Elfin admitted. "But I think you probably guessed that."

"There's only one question." Hawker said.
"How?"
