"It's Christmas Eve!" Freddie heard Clara yell as he woke up in the morning.

He got out of bed to find Clara at his door in a Grinch shirt, Christmas socks with reindeers, and a Santa hat on her head.

"There's so much we have to do," Clara said. "We need to wrap gifts. We need to make sugar cookies because who doesn't love sugar cookies. We need to watch Christmas movies all day. We need to blast Christmas songs until we are deaf."

"Calm down, child."

"No can do, Dad. It's the day before Christmas."

Freddie sighed and got up. Clara gave him his privacy to get ready.

"Don't you have friends to call or text?" Freddie asked.

"Already did that."

Clara turned on the television and flipped on Home Alone. She could barely hold in her excitement.

Freddie came out in a Christmas shirt with reindeer antlers.

"I'm going to go out and grab some wrapping paper," Freddie told her. "I'd tell you to be good, but you're already a good kid and all your friends are in America right now."

Clara went to protest, but stopped because she realized he was right.

Freddie left to go to the store and Clara watched Christmas movies. She got a bit bored, though, and called her old foster sister.

"Hello?"

"Hey, Cadence."

"Clara! I missed you so much!"

"I missed you too, pipsqueak. How's Daniel?"

"He's very good. His grades are doing better and he supposedly has a girlfriend."

"Really? That's great," Clara said. "How's your friend Skyler?

"He asked me to the winter dance in January," Cadence said excitedly.

"That's amazing. How's Mom?"

"She's kinda sad. She misses you, but she knows you'll be back sometimes."

"Aww, I'm sorry."

"It's okay. It's not your fault, Clar. How's Freddie Highmore?"

"He is awesome," Clara said. "He's so nice and friendly. He cares a lot. We got to see Big Ben the other day."

"In London?"

"In London."

"That's so cool. Merry Christmas, Clara."

"Merry Christmas, Cadence. I'll be back in January. Don't worry."

"I love you, Clara."

"I love you, too, Cadence."

Clara went back to the tv. One of her favorite Christmas movies, The Family Stone, was on. She loved this movie. It was so funny.

Freddie did come back. He grabbed food on the way back, so him and Clara sat in the living room and ate their KFC.

They just sat there. Clara eventually scooted over closer to Freddie and layed her head on his shoulder.

"I love you, Dad."

"I love you, too, Clara."

They did eventually get to wrapping presents and making cookies. They wrapped about twenty-four presents for everyody. They got really messy trying to make cookies. They ended up throwing powdered sugar at each other.

"You got a little something right there," Freddie said as he wiped powdered sugar on Clara's cheek.

Clara scoffed. "Now that I'm looking, there's a little something right about there. Aha!"

Clara wiped powdered sugar on Freddie's nose.

By the time the cookie dough was on the table, Freddie and Clara were a mess.

"You did get cookie cutters, right?"

"Yep."

Clara picked on up and started cutting out shapes.

"Look, it's you," Clara said picking up a star cookie. "because you're a star."

"And this one is you, "Freddie showed her an angel, "because you're an angel."

"I'm going to make another one of those so I can decorate it to look like Castiel."

"Well, I'll make once more gingerbread man because you can't have a Castiel without a Dean."

Clara made a cat shape and took a picture of it. She sent it to Zach.

It's you. -Clara

Why? -Zachamundo

Because you're a pussy -Clara

You got me there. I also like them quite a lot. -Zachamundo

Clara sent a gif of a facepalm.

Freddie put their cookies into the oven. Clara put on Jingle Bells on while they waited.

"Could we read the Night Before Christmas, please?" Clara questioned. "It's a tradition I've always done since I was little, even as a teenager."

"Sure."

Clara grabbed her book and she and Freddie sat down. He read the book to her as she snuggled up next to him.

"Once the cookies are done, Clara, we've got to go to bed. We have a big day tomorrow."

"Alright."

Clara put on her pajama and went back to watching Frosty the Snowman.

Fifteen minutes later, the time dinged. Freddie pulled them out to cool. Once they cooled, they decorated the cookies with Frosting. They put the Castiel cookie and the Dean cookie next to each other.

Clara went to her bedroom and lied down. She tried to sleep, honestly. She tossed and turned. She got up and went to Freddie's room and knocked on the door.

"Come in."

Freddie was reading a book. It looked like the Great Gatsby but Clara wasn't sure.

"I can't sleep. Can I sleep in here?"

"Sure."

Clara went to the right side of the bed and pulled the covers back. She climbed into bed and lied down. Freddie turned out the light and put his book down. He lied down and they were both staring at the ceiling.

Clara grabbed Freddie's hand and closed her eyes. She fell asleep instantly.

Freddie fell asleep not soon afterwards.
