Dear Diary,
Victoire and Dominique are all right, fortunately. Unfortunately, something did happen.
Apolline Delacour was found dead at the heart of the Veela conclave on January 2nd, 2004. That I can write to you, as it was in the newspaper two days later. What I can't tell you is the state of the poor woman remains.
I wish I could say that I can't imagine what kind of people would do... that, but unfortunately, I still remember the second decade of my life.
I've officially been tasked with the oversight of the investigation, as a Veela's murder is, under international law, the purview of the ICW.
I don't think I'll be able to keep my head out of this case for long enough to write to you until I'm done finding the... monster, that killed my nieces' grandmother, so I'll write you again once I'm done.
