Olivia squints her eyes as sunlight evades her room. Stretching out her arms like a cat she yawns.

"Good morning, Darling." Jasper gently speaks from the other side of the bed.

"Morning, Jaz." She groans, not wanting to go to school today.

Jasper half smirks at her as her eyes trail towards his face in suspicion. "What?" She deadpans.

"Eighteen has never looked so good on someone." He cheekily responds.

She groans even louder, slamming a pillow over her face. He takes the pillow off of her face before she could suffocate herself. "And I have a present for you."

By the time he tells her this she had gotten out of bed and started looking for clothing for the day. "I don't want it."

Jasper frowns at her cold tone yet again and sighs. "Darling.."

"My birthday is nothing to celebrate." She scoffs. "It's just another year I've been on earth. What a joy." She mutters under her breath in sarcasm.

By now it had been about four months since her and Jasper's promise. Although she'd deny it if anyone were to ask, but she wanted to live.

Jasper had made her realize that not all people are bad and she could feel safe once again, with him. Doesn't mean she wasn't still a little difficult to deal with sometimes and she knew that. And she was eternally grateful for the level of patience the man gives her.

"Fine, it's not a birthday present." Her eyes dart towards the shrugging man. "It's a... glad you're still alive present."

She narrows her eyes at his innocent expression. Crossing her arms she scoffs. "Fine, hand it over."

"That'll have to wait for tonight, darling." He smirks, making his way to the window preparing to leave.

She spins around. "What're you-"

And he was gone just as her door opens, Charlie's cautious face greeting her. After her confession of wanting death he had been grateful she was slowly showing more emotions but it didn't stop him from walking past her door at night and not leaving until he could hear her breathing.

"Hey kiddo." He awkwardly greets. One hand behind his back.

She crosses her arms and sighs. "Let me guess, a present."

"I, uh, told your mother it wasn't a good idea this year, but she insisted. You know how she is." He rolls his eyes at the thought of the bubbly woman rapidly ranting over the phone the moment he even muttered the words maybe this year. He didn't know how he put up with it for so long.
