one of the best and worst days of our lives.

Today was the day!

We strapped in to the rocket as mission control began the preflight checks.

Me and Amelia held hands while the systems were being checked.

"Can you do that... Any time but now?" Asked Carson.

We glared at him.

"RCS? Go. SAS? Go." Mission control said over the radio.

"All systems go" they said finally.

"Pilot?" They asked.

I hesitated.

"Go" I said.

"Beginning launch. T minus 30 seconds." Said mission control.

"Hey Molly, prep your singing voice." I said.

Molly nodded.

I then turned on the radio and delivered the speech.

"Space, the final frontier, these are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. her 5 year mission, to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilisations, to boldly Go where no man has gone before!" I recited.

Everyone else except for Amelia mimicked the star trek theme with their voices.

Molly began singing the vocals.

"Seriously!! What am I missing out on?!" Amelia asked.

"A lot" I said.

With that, mission control erupted with cheers and laughter as they continued the countdown.

"T minus 7... 6... Main engines start..." They counted.

There was a loud roar as the engines came to life.

"5... 4... 3... 2... 1... Ignition" they finished.

The ship was released and began climbing.

"We have liftoff" said mission control.

We shot up at incredible speed.

"Ugh I don't feel so good" said Carson.

"Don't you dare throw up in that suit" I said.

The sky began getting darker and the ambient roar outside gradually became more silent.

I could begin to see bright stars.

They shifted as our angle and trajectory changed. We were moving into orbit to avoid vis-con with the ISS.

The noise from the outside had completely dissapeared.

It was quiet.

All I could hear was my and everyone else's breathing as well as a few beeps from the radio.

"Report" ordered mission control.

"W-we are in orbit" I said.

This was a dream come true for me.

"Please jettison from your seats, we forgot to check the escape pods before launch." They ordered.
I got out and managed to maneuver myself in zero G.

I pushed along and went to the back of the ship where the single escape pod was stored.

I checked the panel on the wall.

It read 13.2 psi.

"What is normal cabin pressure?" I asked mission control.

"Around 13 psi" they said.

"Got it. We have no hull breaches. And the escape pod is secure." I reported.

"Uhhmm Mark?!" Molly shouted.

I looked over at Molly's console.

"I spoke too soon" I said.

"Report" they ordered.

"We have a micro meteoroid shower incoming" I said.

Tiny loose pebbles and bolts were flying towards us at bullet speeds.

They bounced and lodged themselves into the hull.

"Warning, hull fractures detected" said the automated voice.

"Mr. Moore, keep eyes on the pressure level!" I ordered.

"Where did this debris come from?" Asked Lawrence.

"Molly, start scanning the region" I ordered.

She pressed a few buttons and turned back to me.

"It's the ISS, i-its destroyed" she stuttered.

"On screen" I ordered.

She put the image on the small screen.

I floated closer.

It was definitely the ISS. Almost every fuselage looked like it had been torn wide open.

I could see helpless members of the crew floating away.

The Soyuz capsule had been ejected and was flying towards us.

It struck the hull, causing a breach in the cargo hold

It continued to scrape along, hitting the engines.

Bulkhead doors sealed the room while the decompression alarm went off.

We got an image of the capsule.

A large hole had been torn in it as well from the impact. Two crew members were ejected and flailed around helplessly.

"All hands abandon ship!" I ordered.

Everyone got out and we moved the the escape pod.

We all managed to get in except for Mr. Moore.

The door closed on him.

"Help!!!" He called out.

"Oh no!! The pod is on a 30 second countdown. If we eject, that room will depressurize, he'll die!! The pod is supposed to take the whole crew!!" Said Molly.

We couldn't open the door in time.

"Help!!!" Mr. Moore screamed.

The count down finished and the pod ejected.

I heard Mr. Moore scream as he was flung towards us. He landed face first into the door as we ejected.

bit of blood splattered onto the small window on the hatch, boiling away eventually.

The air pressure had pushed us away while Mr. Moore floated off, trying to scream, to hold his breath, to do anything.

"NOOOOOO!!!!" we all screamed.

But it was too late, he was gone.

I watched us accelerate away from the ship, I saw his frozen corpse float away.

Molly hugged Lawrence and cried.

Amelia and I hugged eachother and she lightly wept into my chest.

Carson had no one to hug.

I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and pulled him in for a hug.

There was a beep on the pod's controls.

"Molly, could you check where we're going?" I asked.

"Yeah" she said, sniffling.

She floated over to the controls.

"We're on a collision course with the moon, I can't stop it. We have 32 hours until we get there. Ready your pressure suits" molly said.
