EIGHTEEN

Kylee looked up from her textbook as Allison slid into the seat beside her. The brunette wasted no time opening her own textbook and binders, clutching a pen in her hands as she made it seem like she was studying. Kylee watched her silently, a single brow raised in amusement. "Scott told me that Derek took him to Isaacs house."

Kylee leaned forwards then, eyes darting away from the hunter and to the people surrounding them. The library wasn't unusually busy this afternoon, most who had a free period were either in the library or at the pools. Not wanting to risk it, the brunette dropped her voice to a whisper, "did they find anything to make the cops think Isaac did it?"

The hunter nodded, pursing her lips before answering the girl, "his dad locked him in his freezer." Kylee froze at those words, eyes widening uncharacteristically. Her heart beat loudly in her ears, the noise thundering like hooves across the earth. She shook her head, not wanting to believe that sweet Isaac went through something like that. "There are scratch marks along the inside of the deep freezer in the basement, with dried blood."

Kylee swallowed thickly, feeling sick to her stomach as she tried to remember anything that would give away what Isaac had been going through. She tried to remember if there were any signs, small or large, that indicated he had been living a life full of abuse. "That's enough to be a probable cause," her voice was a soft whisper, so light Allison leaned closer to catch it. "They have a purpose, but do they have the evidence to keep him?"

Allison shrugged her shoulders, "From what I was able to gather, yeah, they do. He's being kept over night. What that evidence is I don't know, I couldn't get close enough to hear."

Kylee nodded, staring blankly at the textbook in front of her. She was struggling with wrapping her head around the information, while trying to see Isaac as a killer. She couldn't do it, the image warping everytime she tried to picture him, creating a blurred mess that she couldn't decipher. He wasn't a killer, and no matter what anyone said to try to convince her, they wouldn't succeed. Shaking her head the female voices her feelings to Allison, pleading with the hunter to help, "he's not a killer Allison, even if he is a werewolf." She needed the brunette to believe her, they needed to get him out of the jail before he did hurt somebody in a fit of moon-induced bloodlust. "Look, if he had been abused all his life and never did anything, I don't think he would do anything now that he's a werewolf. It doesn't work that way when you've been abused. He still would have been terrified of his father, that wouldn't have just disappeared over night."

"What if knowing he was a werewolf did make that fear disappear?" The hunter questioned.

Shaking her head, Kylee responded, "I know him Allison. Whatever killed his father, it wasn't him." Kylee wanted to believe her words. She wanted to believe she knew Isaac, but a part of her argued that if she really knew him surely she would have known he was being abused. Sighing, Kylee ran a hand through her hair nervously. Her leg began to bounce uneasily, fingers twitching as she clicked her pen, "look, we need to come up with a plan to get him out. Even if he did do it, he can't stay in the jail tonight. He won't be able to control himself."
