~ filler and unedited
"You're up late." His father scolds, his eyes not lifting from the newspaper in his hands. His cigarette resting in the corner of his mouth.
Well that was until his Son appeared in front of him as he passed through to the kitchen.
"I'm never on time for you no matter what I do." Namjoon shrugs, too tired on a bright Sunday morning to care. More effected in his regret in coming down in such little clothing."You know how you can make him, or well, us happy though don't you, you are just refusing our happiness." Her mother says, leaning against the counter in her thin robe that would make her pop a tit if she moved an inch.
The life of a former prostitute I guess, he assumes.
"I'm not courting and marrying a stranger that you supposedly all set up for the sake of your business's and money, what if I had a crush already which is quite obviously not going to be her." He shouts angrily, not wanting to deal with the pain of his parents so early after waking up.
He only wanted food.
"Hi-yun darling." Her mother calls into the living room from the kitchen, still sipping from her morning tea.
"Your son has a crush, even after we revealed all this marriage business to him." She explains, both of them hearing him get up from his seat and slowly making his way to meet them, Namjoon throwing his head back in a silent sigh as he felt like this was never going to end.
"A crush heh? Why bother contrasting your love onto someone that isn't going ot be your future wife, shouldn't you be waiting to do that where it will be more worth it." His father asks, clearly not pleased with the words he had just heard.
"Who said I will, what if we both don't want this, you can't force two people onto it." He questions, gulping down his cold water, heavily placing it back down on the counter top.
"What she thinks does not matter to you right now, do you hear me? Now go get ready and do your errands round the streets." His father demands, ready to pass on the message to Hooo-woon and what they were going to need to do to get them both to comply.
However little did they know, if they knew the truth, everyone's life would be better on both sides, but would old arrogant people think like that?
Of course not, who are you kidding.
"You all aren't as smart as you think." Namjoon scoffs, walking off quickly back up to his room, to quickly change into sweats, not wanting to freeze any longer than he had to.
All he wanted was a simple Sunday where he would do his usual rounds of work to keep the neighbours and local business happy with him, however he quickly being shown that the more and longer that his parents and their little "gang" were set on this whole marriage thing, the shitter his life was going to get and if he did end up marrying this unknown girl then that's a whole other story.
In all honesty Namjoon wanted to ask the girl herself what she felt about it, if he really had no way out and she wasn't so bad why not sacrifice, if it saves others in the process why not, and if she didn't, then that was an easy way out of Namjoon to run away and stay with his friends and Sung forever, especially since his feelings for her were growing at a rate he couldn't stop.
He wasn't complaining but with everything else that was going on, it made him nervous to say the least, studying for school just benign the tip of the iceberg.
"You should wear warmer clothes boy, you'll get a cold." The old woman warned as she stood back up off her front garden from potting some plants.
If Namjoon was asked who his favourite customer was to deliver to, he would by miles say Pam, the woman in front of her.
Ever since he started the job, which by now was quite a few years ago, she had always made sure he was okay and treated him as if he was her own grandchild, and he always appreciated that.
Over the eyes, he had had a few dinners with her, telling her his darkest secrets in which she always replied with some good advice with, you could say she really saved him and was the core reason he was like how he was now in his later years.
She brought the stability in his mess of a household, she always knew what kind of people they were before his birth and when she found out his birth she was more than worried for his well being and more importantly upbringing but after finally managing to speak to him, she was pleased to see he wasn't like them and had a better hope in a good life that his parents ever decided to have.
Namjoon never really knew who his grandparents were, but assumed they cut their children out of their life when they saw them get involved in such jobs and lives, probably highly unaware of the existence of their grandson.
He knew some cousins, that was it, the good old cousins.
"It's okay I'm a fighter anyway." he joked, placing the morning's newspaper onto her wall for her to collect when she had finished working in the cool morning sun.
"You always have been, how's school?" she asked, walking over to the wall to keep her balance, she may be there more mentally but her balance and physical health was a whole other story.
"Alright, you gonna be in later?" He asked, hopping back onto his bike that was on the brink of falling apart.
"Of course, you got some tea to tell me?" She asked, a large smile appearing on her face.
"As always, I'll see you then." Namjoon informs, before quickly cycling off to the next destination round the corner.
Pam brought light into his darkness and will do anything to repay her back until he no longer can, already aware of the damage her death will do to him.
