Lainey and Eli pulled up at the drive-in cinema. Lainey sighed as she turned off the engine. She adjusted herself in her seat to get comfortable.

"Not a fan of the movie?" Eli asked.

Lainey laughed. "It hasn't started yet, but I've seen it before."

Eli laughed lightly. "So," he hummed. "Who was that guy from the other day?"

Lainey tilted her head in confusion.

"The tall guy at the dojo..."

"Demetri?" Lainey laughed.

Eli sighed. "No, the one your dad looked pissed at."

"Oh right, I have no idea," Lainey admitted. "Dad's been super tense since then."

"Jeez, really?"

"Yep."

"I'm sorry."

"It's fine. He'll be alright."

Eli nodded in agreement. "Where is everyone?"

Lainey shook her head in response as she tapped the steering wheel with her thumb. "I have no idea."

Lainey looked around and saw no sign of anyone she knew.

"I'll text Sam," Lainey said as she pulled out her phone.

Eli leaned across to Lainey and unbuckled her seatbelt, his breath against her face as he scanned her features.

"Can I help you?" Lainey laughed.

Eli grinned. "You don't have to message her yet. We can just... chill here."

Lainey's eyebrows knitted together. "Chill? Sure."

Eli laughed. "You know I can't resist you."

"Well, restrain yourself." Lainey giggled as she typed her message for Sam and sent it.

Eli let out a groan and slumped into his seat. Lainey turned to him.

"Sorry handsome, maybe I'll make it up to you later..." Lainey trailed.

Eli smirked. "Oh, you will?"

Lainey shrugged. "Mm, maybe."

Her phone pinged, Sam messaged to say she and the others had arrived.

"They're here," Lainey announced.

Eli nodded. "Shall we get snacks?"

"Sam and Miguel are getting snacks, we can meet them down by the food carts."

They got out of the car and headed down to where they knew Sam and Miguel would be.

Lainey walked over to her sister who ordered food.

"Get me a hot dog!" Lainey announced.

Sam turned around to her sister and sighed, she ordered a hot dog for her sister and handed it to her. Lainey smiled in appreciation.

"Wow, thanks. Didn't think you would."

Lainey tucked into the hot dog, Eli's arm wrapped around her.

"Where's mine?" he laughed.

"Sam got me this," Lainey explained.

"Yeah because she made me," Sam chimed in.

"I hardly made you!" Lainey retorted.

Eli laughed. "Want anything else?"

Lainey shook her head. "I'm good, thanks."

"I'll be back now, I'll get popcorn for us to share."
