APRIL NINTH,
TWO THOUSAND AND THIRTEEN

11:11 in the morning

BUSTLING WITH PEOPLE, the airport was loud and crowded. Nothing out of the usual, really, but for some reason, it made Sora feel uneasy. A strange sensation— one that was both a stranger and a friend. It had to do with what he was about to see, or rather, be seeing. And as soon as he'd stepped inside the airport, the feeling intensified. The bright lights blinded him momentarily, the noise deafening. But Sora pushed through— and saw his soulmates standing together. The sight before him was breathtakingly beautiful.

They were smiling despite the tears threatening to spill. His heart skipped a beat. Their skin looked radiant in contrast to the crowd around them. They stood so close together that their arms brushed against each other every so often. It was impossible not to smile at the sight. He'd never felt his heart swell so much. It could've burst then.

The world seemed to slow down, and the people around him became nothing more than background noise. Sora's feet took him towards them without his consent. His soulmates noticed him coming closer first, looking up at him. As soon as his eyes met theirs, it was like everything else fell away. Everything except them. Sora was going to miss this. He was going to miss them.

They were travelling soon, waiting to board the plane and leave the country. Sora was going to have to leave some of his soulmates— Kageyama, Kindaichi and Kunimi. He was going to have to leave them here, alone, without him. And it was that realisation that sent his heart lurching in his chest; it demanded freedom. Autonomy of its love.

"Sora-chan!"

One look at Oikawa's face, beaming and teary all at once, and Sora felt the tsunami ricocheting in his soul calm down.

Beside him, Kageyama rose his arm, waving subtly. His lips curled as he watched the swimmer approach. The distance between them was minimal. Just another step. Two. Three. Until there was nothing but them— chest against chest, heart against heart. Sora blanketed his body with his arms, and Kageyama held him close. He gripped the back of his shirt, fingers digging into the fabric. The world around them dissolved.

Only Sora— only the both of them were left in their little bubble.

"I'll be back before you know it, Tobs," Sora whispered into his ears.

In a flash, he was kissing his soulmate. A long kiss that made Kageyama forget how to breathe. And then Sora was pulling away, smiling up at him through bright green eyes. He leaned forward and kissed him again. Again and again. Until the only thing Tobio would remember was his lips on his.

"Don't die," Kageyama said.

"Don't be so morbid, Tobio-chan!" Oikawa slapped his hand on the younger setter's back. "We'll be with Sora-chan." His grin was so infectious. As Tobio turned his head, his cheek resting on Sora's chest, he couldn't help the way his lips curled upwards. "You don't have anything to worry about!"
