BIRDIE POTTER tried to make the best of whatever hair situation was going on today, but at the end she just gave up and put it in a ponytail instead — fluffing out her bangs and fixing her top so it laid better on her body, she was finally going to visit Fred after what felt like an eternity, with Thomas around the past few weeks it has been hectic and she hasn't been able to hang out with her boyfriend as much, but she would finally get to see him today and she wanted to look nice.

"You look nice," Thomas said with his eyes squinted, "Wait a second, are you tricking me to go to the dentist? Is that what this is? I knew it was too good to be true—" he had started rambling and Birdie snorted — Fred and Thomas could share their hatred for the dentist together, ever since Birdie had told the redhead about dentists he'd been freaked out — mind you, he lives in a world where people drink unicorn blood to live forever.

"No, no, I would never do that to you," Birdie said to Thomas, yeah, she lied — they did have a dentist's appointment in a few days, but it wasn't a problem until it was the day of the appointment, she would live in peace and be the cool aunt till then.

"Oh, please, I see your calendar — I'm five not stupid, I can read," Thomas rolled his eyes, Birdie looked at him with her brows furrowed, she thought she had at least until he hit puberty before he turned into a little sassball, apparently not.

"Ok, Mr Thomas, let's get going," Birdie said to Thomas and held out her hand for him to take, Lorelei had told them that she would meet them a few minutes later as something very important had come up — she even got all dressed up which Birdie didn't understand, why did she pull out the black bodycon dress for a case? Unless she was going undercover or something. Birdie doesn't understand Lorelei's job very well, I mean, she remembers at some point in her life Birdie had wanted to be an auror too, just like her dad wanted to be, but then she'd realized she was way too much of a pacifist for that.

Lorelei was fit for the job though, and Birdie isn't saying it as a dig towards her or something, but it's a compliment — Lorelei had the right moral compass and enough sensibility to recognize the right from the wrong and most of all she had a reason behind it, that was more than most the people in that job had — some people were there cause it paid well, some because they just wanted to do something and some to help out Voldemort, but Lorelei's reason was what the job was made for. It wasn't to kill all the Deatheaters, no, it had never been that for Lorelei, but it was about protecting the people from the deatheaters and the people who didn't understand the difference were part of the problem.

"You still haven't told me why you're dressed up..." said Thomas as Birdie placed enchantments around her apartment and then turned to look at him.

"Well, you know the boy who used to come visit us all the time for the first few weeks?" Birdie asked Thomas who nodded.

"The one with the red hair who stole my share of the cookies, I remember," he said with a sinister look, "I remember everything..."

"Well, he's my boyfriend," Birdie said unfazed by the kid's statement, "And that's why I cleaned up pretty nice today."

"Can I have a boyfriend?"

"When you're thirty, yes."

"Yay!" Thomas said enthusiastically, "How many years till I turn thirty?" and then a look of horror passed on his face, "Oh, merlin! What if I die before I get to have a boyfriend?!"

"You're not gonna die," Birdie said to the kid ruffling his hair, "You're pretty set on the boyfriend thing, huh? You got anyone in mind?" she wiggled her eyebrows at him.

"Yours is kinda pretty," Thomas said.

"Back off, kiddo, that one's mine." Birdie said in a joking manner, "Perhaps someone else, I'll introduce you to his twin brother today, how about that?"

"Nah, it has to be yours," Thomas shook his head and Birdie released a good laugh, "I'm serious, it's either him or the pretty girl with the black hair we saw at the other house..."

"Oh?" Birdie asked, her eyebrows raised, "You mean Regan?"

"Yeah!" he nodded enthusiastically, "Her eyes were really scary but she was really nice to me."

"You're way too young for this, like I said — you don't get to date till you're thirty," Birdie noticed the pattern — the little brat was going for every person the Potters liked, she almost wanted to laugh — first Fred and then Regan, she wonders if Lorelei put him up to this.

Birdie then gave a last look to the shop, she likes having Thomas around, she really does, but she misses spending time down at the bakery — the thing is, even when she wants to work she can't bring herself to because Thomas can't be alone, it feared him to be alone, he'd told her one day that if she was right in front of him he would know that she was alright, and how could Robin Euphemia Potter ever say anything about that to the poor kid?

Birdie felt like she was already a young mom or something like that, Thomas was a great kid but she also wanted a little bit more freedom and resented herself for doing so, but she thinks she's allowed to have these thoughts — it's only natural, she's super young, I mean, I guess not super young since she was eighteen now — but still, she deserved to live a reckless life, she thought that maybe when she moved out she could be a little more careless but universe always came ready with the intention of biting her in the ass.
