Heels clicked on the pavement as two women approached a brunch spot. The sun was hot, the air was thick and the men were... well they were subpar, but the two single women couldn't help but gawk. They sat at a table just outside of the front door, one pushing her shades up on her head and the other setting her purse on the back of her chair. They had two things in common: their love for Jasmine and their love for drama.

"Why doesn't she ever call me? I feel so out of the loop." Lana whined, her eyes still following the group of joggers that passed them.

"Let's just be real baby, you don't give no advice you just agree with whatever somebody says and sip your tea." Diamond responded bluntly. "Anyways, get your cup ready. I'm about to fill you in."

She pursed her lips, not having any rebuttal. All of the women in their family tended to be a little too passive. "The cup is empty and waiting."

"Good morning Ladies, here are a few menus. Can we start you off with something to drink?" A waiter said cheerfully, setting laminated pamphlets on the table.

They both ordered water, gave the menu a glance, and asked for more time with the menus. They needed to get the gossip out the way before they thought about eating. With a few thank you's they sent the waiter off and got back to their conversation.

"Okay, so girl. Anthony put Jazmine in the music video for Warning," Diamond started, seeing Alana instantly light up with excitement. "That's not the tea though."

"That's still dope, I can't wait to see it. It's probably gone be sexy~," she said in a sing-song voice.

"Shit, it probably is. So sexy that Ant ate her out in the dressing room," Diamond continued grabbing her water from the waiter's hand in return. When she saw Alana frozen with her jaw on the ground, she snickered grabbing her water for her as well. "Thanks."

"Whaaaaaat?" She asked loudly, leaning over the table.

"Yes! Girl, had poor Jazzy scatting on the phone," she laughed loudly. "Your sister was at wits end baby. Gone in the brain."

"Oh my goodness," Alana said putting her straw into her water. "That's kinda ghetto..."

"Oh god, focus girl."

"Okay, okay." Sipping her water she nodded. "I know there's more, you're looking at me like there's more."

"So, she was acting like it was the end of the world and I couldn't figure out why—- wait a second." Shifting her gaze past Alana, Diamond pushed her shades back more. "Girl is that your daddy?"

"Huh?" She questioned turning around. Her face dropped. "That is my daddy. Why is he here? He's supposed to be at work," she complained.

Though Thomas Green was still married to the girls' mother, Janet, he had a history of stepping out. As soon as she laid eyes on him, Alana had a bad feeling.

"You think he cheating again?" Di asked brazenly.

"I don't see no woman with him..."

When Thomas sat down, he looked around and they both turned quickly hoping he hadn't saw them. Alana was facing the same way as him, so she simply looked forward. Diamond propped a menu up in front of her. Her eyes peered over the top slowly as a Tesla pulled up on the curb. Thomas stood to greet whoever it was. He had a look of disgust on his face.

"Somebody coming..."

"Who!" Lana whispered urgently. "Who is it."

"Bi—- bitch is that Daffyd!?"

Alana couldn't help but take a quick glance. Her jaw dropped, but as both men looked up she spun back around gasping. "That is Daffyd!"

"Why the hell is he meeting Daffyd for brunch!?"

"I don't know!" Alana whispered urgently. "What are they saying?"

"Nothing yet," Diamond mumbled from behind the menu. "They just sitting down... Oh they talking! Use them big ass ears girl, I know you got super hearing."

"Gi- fuck you," Alana said with her normal voice. She took a sip of her water, then realized she could just barely make out their voices. "Wait, I can hear them a little."

"I knew them ears weren't huge for nothing," Di snickered.

Lana rolled her eyes. "Daff apologizing for something. He sounds like a little bitch."

"He always sounds like a little bitch. Jasmine never did tell me what they got into it about. What happened?"

"I don't know, I went to Nobu that night."

"Girl, you always missing shit."

"I know," she whined, pouting. When they went quiet, she sat back trying to get a better listen. Daff was going on and on about how much he cares for Jazmine, and how he wants them to get along because—- "This nigga talking 'bout he wanna propose."

"Oh you gots to be shitting me," Diamond snickered. "This fucking idiot!"

"Oh my god. If dense was a person—"

"No cuz exactly."

"We're done here," Thomas said loudly, pushing from the table with a screeching drag. "You do what you want, but don't expect me to be involved. I wish you the worst."

"Period Thomas!" Diamond whispered loudly.

"Mr. Green!" Daff shouted after him. "Mr. Green, hear me out."

"I've heard quite enough. I tried my best to keep my girls away from little punks like you, but it's just my karma. I hope that if you try and drag my daughter to hell with you, your karma comes tenfold."

"Period Thomas!" The girls both whispered excitedly.

Diamond's eyes followed the father as he adjusted his sleeves and walked off. Daff was left standing at the table by himself. That's when his eyes found the pair, and Diamond ducked further down behind the menu.

"Shit, he saw me."

"My dad?"

"No! Daff—"

"Good Morning," Daffyd greeted as they both scrambled trying to act natural.

Alana picked up her water, taking a slow sip as she looked at him. Diamond sat her menu down, pursing her lips. They both gave him a slight nod.

"I figure y'all probably got an earful, but uh." Rubbing his hands together, he winced looking down at the ground. "Don't tell Jazmine about this... please."

Diamond looked over his face. He had the disheveled aura of a hangover, and his face was puffy as if he'd been crying recently. Ew, she thought. He was uglier than usual.

"Which part, my dad damning you to hell or you wanting to propose?" Alana asked.

"Both?" He said furrowing his eyebrows. "And uh, if you do hear from Jaz... tell her to call me back. She hasn't been picking up her phone."

Both of the girls grunted with disinterest. He took the hint, nodding and walking off. They watched him all the way to his car, then turned to each other as he pulled away from the curb.

"You know we gotta call Jazmine right?"

"Already on it," Diamond responded, rustling through her purse.
