a couple of months had passed since the whole 'makeshift oven in hoppers cabin to extract a demon like creature from will' situation and everything finally hit a calm period

you were sitting at joyce's kitchen table watching will draw and from the corner of your eye you could see joyce watching you

"what if you make his gauntlets red?" you offered your input to his drawing

he gasped "that would look so cool! thank you, y/n/n" with that the boy carefully picked up the red pencil and began colouring the sorcerer he had drawn

a smile etched it's way onto your face as will sported one of his very one, beaming from ear to ear

"hey, buddy, look what i got ya" it was his birthday and you decided to get him some new fancy colouring pencils. yeh, they were quite expensive but the hug you got was enough to make it worth it

"thank you, thank you, thank you" he chanted as he tightened his grip on you and you ruffled his short mousy brown hair

joyce, once hearing your voice, rushed to the front door where you stood holding her son

she feigned hurt and gasped "a hug without me?!" chuckling at her dramatics you waved a hand for her to join and that she did. she hugged will from behind, nuzzling her head in his hair and wrapping her arms around his frame to hold your waist

"c'mon, my boy, time for school" joyce announced and just like clockwork mike knocked on the door and will was off. not before he got a kiss on the cheek goodbye from his mum "bye, mum.. bye, y/n/n" you both waved him goodbye

and johnathan left earlier with nancy

"i guess it's back to just us" you slumped onto the sofa/couch and joyce followed suit, practically throwing herself on you "hmph" you groaned at the impact

"what now?" you broke the comfortable silence

without response the brunette jumped up and ran to the radio and tuned the station so the music was clear

"dance with me, bubs?"

you place the needle down on the turntable and wait a few seconds for the record to spin, the music to start playing

"dance with me, byers" you held a hand out to the woman infront of you

"with pleasure, y/l/n"

"with pleasure, my love" you took her outstretched hand and she pulled you in

she nuzzled her face into the crook of your neck and snaked her arms around your neck as yours rested on her waist, gently swaying her along to the music

the only sounds were the music, true colours by cyndi lauper, and the both of yours' joint humming

as the song was at its end you felt a single kiss get placed on your exposed collarbone and you exhaled in contentment

you gently held her face in your hands making all her attention fall on you

"it's okay" she nods in your grip, trying to convince herself that what your saying is true

"will's strong, he's your son after all" you flash her a soft smile which she reciprocated instantly "and you, my love, are the strongest"

your faces inch closer and closer together

but before your lips could touch black particles zoom in-between both of your body's

as another song faded in as joyce moved her head away to looked up at you "y/n" she cooed softly and you hummed in response, eyes closed

"look at me" you opened your y/e/c eyes instantly and to see that her face seemed so close to yours

she etched impossible close and, with the little slither of confidence you had in this situation, you closed the gap, lips meeting one another

breathlessly you pulled away "does this mean.. you like me because i really like you- i have for a while and it sounds-" you rambled against her lips so she cut you off with another kiss but, once oxygen became a problem, pulled away again to whisper "i really like you too, y/n/n"

there was nothing to ruin the moment

just you and joyce swaying to the music, in the middle of her living room, confessing your feelings for one another
