the next day after the party, tory showed up at gioia's house, angry tears prickling in her eyes. she explained what she saw the night of moon's party, trying her hardest not to cry in front of her friend. as the two talked, gioia was nearly as furious as tory was at miguel and sam.

so, gioia hadn't really spoken to him all weekend. instead of going into the first day of school at west valley high with him, she went with tory, but she secretly hoped she would see him later.

"gioia, gioia!" a voice yelled out at her.

tory wanted to go off on her own, so gioia let her. she was walking alone to her locker when miguel caught her.

"hey, where have you been?" miguel questioned, his hand around her arm.

she shook his grip off. "busy."

"okay... i really need to talk to you." he explained, quite taken aback by her lack of physical affection.

"go on."

"at the party." miguel began. "things got bad... i kissed sam and i-" when he saw the girl didn't have a shocked expression on his face, he stopped talking.

gioia slammed her locker shut. "i know."

"you... know?" miguel questioned, but how she knew wasn't really important to him at that moment. "i just feel terrible, i really need to talk to tory but i haven't spoken to her since the party. she's not replying to any of my texts."

"mhm."

"have you spoken to her recently?" miguel asked as they walked to their first class, biology.

"yeah."

"you have?" miguel stopped her from going any further. "what did she say? is she okay?"

"she's fine." gioia lied, she wasn't really allowed to tell him anything. she hated it, lying to her best friend. but he had made a mistake and he needed to learn from it.

"thank God." he sighed in relief, "how come she's not replying to me?"

"no idea." gioia shrugged, continuing to walk.

"hey... are you mad at me?" miguel raised his eyebrow.

"i mean, you cheated on tory with your ex girlfriend so i'm not really your biggest fan." gioia confessed. "but at the same time i'm not really anyone's biggest fan."

"right." miguel nodded. "i am really sorry."

"i'm not the one you should be apologising to." gioia advised as she pushed the door to the biology room open.

the two's prolonged conversation had made them late, as everyone was already sitting down. miguel took the seat beside hawk while gioia sat in front of them, alone.
