Trigger Warnings: Execution mentions, jail, false accusations, hanging mentions

( based in a time we're executions still happened colby is fasley accused of stealing off the king by accident gets thrown into a castle dungeon for a week before he is meant to be executed and when it comes time his execution is stopped at the last moment)
( Colby is one of the servants sons and lives in the castle he is also 17 in this )

Third POv:

Colby was sat in his room in the castle, nothing big or anything just a regular sized bedroom with a bed, desk, chair and bookshelf.

He left the room and walked around the castle for a bit looking at all the cool armour stands and stuff
He loved that his mom was a servant here but he also kinda hated it.

He touched one of the armour stands gently and accidently knocked it over jumping back as it fell
"Shit shit.."

"What do you think your doing boy" One of the Kings guards known as Lincoln said

"I- I was just looking I didn't mean to break it im-" He was cut off as the guard grabbed him by the arm and led him to the grand Hall were the king sat on his throne.

Whilst being walked to the grand Hall he was cuffed

"Your majesty I saw Mrs Brocks son trying to steal from you" colby stared at the floor as the guard explained the story wrong.

"Is this true Mr Brock. You were attempting to steal from me after I blessed you and your mother with a roof over your head and food every night" the king said

"N- no your majesty I swear I was just looking and I broke something by accident I deeply apologise"  colby said quickly as he realised his mom walked into the room

"Cole? Your majesty is there an issue" Lesa said bowing to the king

"Yes Lesa your son was attempting to steal from me. And we all know I do NOT. Tolerate theft in my own home. Therefore I have come to the decision to execute him. Take him to the dungeons and we shall arrange his execution." colbys heart dropped

"n-no your majesty please I swear I swear I wasn't stealing I promise please" he tried to free himself from the grip of the guards as another guard put a sword to his throat

"Do not talk back to the king boy." he said as colby had tears dripping down his face as he was pulled up by his arms

"Mom- tell them please MOM PLEASE" Colby screamed

"Your majesty there must be some kind of mistake my boy would never dream of stealing from anyone please don't kill him your majesty" Less said as she tried to run towards colby

She was stopped by two guards as two more dragged a kicking and screaming colby away

"MOM PLEASE DONT LET THEM TAKE ME" His cries echoed through the halls.

Colby was thrown into a cell in the dungeon tower
The cell consisted of hay on the floor and a bucket to use for a toilet and the cell door was fully caged

Colby cowards in the back of his cell crying

Suddenly the door to the tower opened and footsteps approached colby fast

Princess Elle appeared from the darkness holding a lantern

"Cole.. I never thought you of all people would end up in here." Princess elle said.

"I didn't do anything your highness I promise you.. I was just looking around the castle and a statue of armour broke right in front of me." colby said not even looking up from the floor

"I believe you Cole.. Your heart is pure, however my father is set on your death. Your mother is outside.. Would you like to see her" Colbys head snapped up

He nodded quickly standing up and grabbing onto the cell bars.

Then his mom walked in tears staining her face.
"Momma.. I didn't do it.. I promise you I didn't do it" colby said grabbing her hand through the cell

"I know colebear I know I'm working on it alright?" she rubbed his hand comfortingly

After 15 minutes she had to go back to work and colby was left alone once again.

He wasn't sure when it was he fell asleep but he woke up to someone banging on the cell bars and throwing food into the cell.
He was being treated like a goddamn animal and was going to die for a crime he didn't do.

Colby scurried towards the food realising it was just a piece of bread but ate it like he hadnt ate in days.

He sat back down in the corner of his cell and sat in silence.

*4 days later*

It was the day of colbys execution.
He had kinda just accepted it by now.

He sat in his cell waiting for the guards for 5 hours and when they finally came to get him he didn't kick or scream or beg for them to hear him out.
He just accepted it.
He was cuffed and gagged and walked out to the court yard where the entire kingdom was watching him. He was walked up onto the stand where the noose tied perfectly for his neck was hanging.

His hands still tied together they placed the noose around his neck and tightened it just enough so he couldnt just walk backwards and escape.

The guards walked down from the stand and the king started to speak.

"This boy here Mr Cole Brock had attempted to STEAL from your king after I had provided him and his mother with a roof over there heads and food in there stomach. And this is how he repays me. I hear by sentence Cole Brock to death by hanging.. On my count we will drop the floor " the king said and colbys heart pounded against his chest.

" 5...........4..................3.....................2.............on-"the king was cut off

" STOP THE EXECUTION.. YOUR MAJESTY COLE BROCK IS INNOCENT.. SEE I FOUND THE CAMERAS IN THE HALL THIS SUPPOSED CRIME TOOK PLACE AND HE DID NOT ATTEMPT TO STEAL ANYTHING.. HE WAS LOOKING ST THE STATUE AND IT BROKE "Princess Elle shouted just before they pulled the leaver to colbys death.

" what are you doing you stupid girl "The king spoke venom dripping off his toung

" I will not stand by and watch you kill an innocent civilian, especially not when I am in love.. With said civilian father.. He is innocent and I demand you let him down As your future queen." Elle said as colbys eyes widened.

"Very well. But if I find out you are lying to protect this boy.. You will both be put to death do I make myself clear young lady" The king said adn elle nodded.

"THIS EXECUTION IS NO LONGER TAKING PLACE. LET THE BOY DOWN." He shouted and colby breathed a sigh of relief.
He was untied from the noose and his hands were untied.
He ran down those steps faster then ever and hugged his mother

"Oh mother I'm safe.. I'm not dead... I'll meet you back in the Room.?" Colby said as his mom nodded and he walked towards Princess elle.

"So uh.. Thank you.. For that.. The whole in love thing was just for show wasnt it?" Colbys heart broke a little asking that

Suddenly elle kissed him
It was passionate

"No Cole.. I'm in love with you" She hugged him

" Oh.. I'm in love with you too elle.. But your father.. Might not approve" Colby said shyly
"I don't care. He can not choose who I do and don't love.. Your probably exhausted poor boy.. Go to bed and well talk about this tomorrow morning Cole.. Goodnight" She kissed his cheek and walked away as colby did the same thing to his room.

He has a girlfriend who also happens to be the princess of the kingdom.
He successfully avoided being executed
And he was officially the happiest man alive.
