Only Kalim was in Professor Trein's class by the time you all arrived. You had asked Kalim where his friend was, and apparently Jamil got in an accident while cooking for his lunch. Professor Trein had agreed that Jamil would be excused for this reason, as Kalim took it upon himself to burden Jamil's half of detention.

You hope Jamil is okay. You didn't really trust the guy but that didn't mean you wished ill upon him.

This time, you ALL had to be spread out, so it was pretty boring today.

You took this time to finish up some homework you had left over in Crewel's class from yesterday and today. Crewel was more understanding that you had a job so you couldn't always do homework. So instead he made a compromise with you that whatever work you didn't finish in class would be your homework instead.

Dilf behavior for real.

Once the bell rang signalizing the end of lunch, Kalim was quick to run to you. You stood up and started putting your things away as the wholesome boy began the conversation.

"You guys were a little late today, huh?"

"Oh, yeah. Lunch was pretty crowded today since there was some weird ass sale. So, how come Jamil had to make your lunch today? Don't you usually just get the cafeteria food?" You ask him.

"Jamil usually makes my lunch for me since I only trust the food he makes for me," Kalim crosses his arms, "If I eat cafeteria food, he always tests it for me first."

"...Do I wanna unpack all of that?"

Kalim takes too long to answer, which ironically was the answer.

"Aight then."

"By the way, [Y/n]," Kalim starts with a smile, "Jamil wanted me to tell you about the tutoring thing we brought up yesterday And don't worry, I let him make the decision alone."

You lean against the desk, "Cool, cool! What's the verdict?"

"Jamil said he seriously thought hard about it, since teaching someone a new language is hard, and learning to read and write it can be harder. But if you are also willing, he wouldn't mind finding a schedule that would work with you to tutor you."

Ah shit.

See, the reason why Jamil agreed to this was because you were a lying ass motherfucker and he wants to know what you're hiding.

"Magicless student" his ass! Yesterday, you totally had magic energy coming from you. It's hard to detect, and it's not his area of expertise, but if Jamil concentrates hard enough, he can sense magic energy from objects or people. It happens when magic is casted, and supposedly you can't do that but you had magic lingering on you anyway.

If Jamil can gain your trust, then maybe he can get the truth out of you. Maybe this information could be useful to his advantage later.

"Ah shit" on your part because you don't trust Jamil. You spent your fair amount of time around people who had ulterior motives, you learned to read body language, and most importantly:

Their eyes.

Intentionally or not, the eyes reveal more than anyone would be comfortable with. Jamil's aura was uncomfortable for you because he had the aura of someone who was reliable, but it was so... sinister in a way.

Those words he says too easily, that soft smile he wears most of the time...

It doesn't match that look in his eyes.
