Claire
I dozed off around 3 in the morning. My thoughts were unsettling which kept me awake for most hours. The medicine didn't work on making me sleep but I felt extra healthy. I sat up and stretched. I had a blurry memory of what happened during 2018 but I need answers.
"Jungwon." I mumbled. I turned around to see him holding a tray of breakfast meal. He looked slightly shaken but proceeded on pulling the bed table. "I didn't... know.. you'd recover fast." He says slowly.
"I don't know what Sakura placed in the meds but surely I feel better than ever." I smiled as I watched him set the tray on the table. "I'm glad. I hope it didn't tire you out all night." Jungwon pulls a chair nearby and sat. "I could hear you all night."
I blushed at the reply. "I'm sorry. I was left here on standby with other agents. Most of them were staying here." He looked down like a sad cat.
"You didn't mean it Jungwon, I know." I reassured him. "Sucks to be the only esper who can't control it." He sheepishly smile out of embarrassment.
"Oh yeah, your boyfriend might be coming here to check on you." Jungwon changes the topic. I looked away and sighed, I'm not ready to see him but I do want answers. "I suggest you eat up before he arrives." He says.
He knows. I'll take his advice. I'd rather confront him with a full stomach. I'll be much level headed than angry and hungry.
"Good decision." Jungwon smiles. He must knew what I had thought all over last night. He doesn't look bothered anyway. "I am bothered." Jungwon mumbles. "It feels surreal my cousin reincarnated but I kn-know.. she is a different person and you are as well." He stands up and walks towards the window next to the bedside table. "You aren't Clementine but it doesn't mean I'll change on how I see you." He sighs.
"You'll still be my friend—our friend Claire."
"That's heartwarming, Jungwon." I smiled at the young boy.
"Please don't mind if the boys will mention Clementine.. we just had a lot of memories of her."
"I can tell." I smiled. I started eating my breakfast while Jungwon tidied up the place. He excused himself as soon he received a call. I set the tray aside before leaning properly on the bed. As I was adjusting, my eyes met Felix's. He was holding a plastic in his hands. "Claire." He softly calls. He sounded hoarse and tired. I couldn't get angry at him if he's this tired.
He set the plastic on the bedside table, not leaving me out of his sight.
He immediately embraced me. I should have resisted but I missed him too. "I was worried." He softly mumbled until slowly he started to sob. "I got alerted by Soobin as you stepped into HYBE."
"Are you alright? Nothing broken?" He pulled away. His tired eyes are now glimmering with tears. I felt bad on thinking that I could get angry with him. "Nothing. I'm fine Lix." I answered. He sat on bed, holding onto my hands. I let go of his grasp to wipe off his tears. "You should get some sleep." I told him while he only scoffed.
"Aren't you worried about me?" He jokes.
"Of course I am. Always."
"The treasure hunt can burn in hell—I'm stepping out of the mission." Felix blurts out. "Why?" I raised an eyebrow. "I will protect you first, I've lost you twice already-"
"No." I interrupted him. "Felix, you need to help Chan."
"I've talked to him already and he's okay with it-"
"Well, I'm not."
Felix looked puzzled at my reply. I slowly looked away and sighed. This should be the time to ask him questions. "What?" He mumbles. "Claire, look at me."
I turned to him with a sigh. "I might remember what happened in the past." I replied with a low tone. His expression changed into worry. "I need you to be honest with me, I will help you this time." I held his palms tenderly. "Tell me what happened in the past—everything, this might help us in the treasure hunt."
Trigger warning: guns
"Claire this doesn't concern you."
"It does Lix." I interjected. "l've met Jaemin, the real one."
His eyes widen at my response. "Claire, I'm not in the mood for games." He sounded pissed off while chuckling. "Do you think I'd lie? The prince himself saved me from the crossfire."
His grin disappeared as soon I mentioned that painful memory. "How.." He couldn't form words. It a bitter event of my life and probably I was in a pool of someone's blood. Thanks to that trip down the memory lane, I no longer see Felix the same again.
"Now, tell me now Felix. Tell me everything."
