The crickets were chirping, the winds were blowing softly, it was a nice and cozy night. Not for Byleth... he was staring up at his ceiling, paranoid of falling asleep.
Byleth muttered to himself, "It's 2 o'clock and I can't get to bed. The wedding is in 3 more days but... Alear won't even talk to me. I talked to Chrom yesterday about the situation and he told me to apologize. I just... I just don't want to catch her at the wrong time..." He got up from bed and looked out the window.
He stared at the stars and felt himself tightening up. Every thought he had was consuming him more and more and he felt lost. Hopeless even, Alear was a close ally of his and he couldn't handle the thought of losing her forever. Just he felt conflicted, lost, and torn apart.
Byleth grunted, "Why do I always feel so hopeless in myself whenever I think about all the things that surround us..." He sat back on his bed and stared down at his room. The whole place was a mess and it showed. Posters ripped, fabric on the ground, trash everywhere, he absolutely hated it all. It wasn't perfect at all, it was the worst thing he had ever seen.
He got up from the bed and left the room. He went downstairs slowly and got something from the refrigerator. He wanted to just have something to drink before he tried to sleep again. He grabbed some water and stared out the window. The moonlight was full and it was beautiful as ever before.
"A beautiful moonlight tonight, I guess having insomnia tonight isn't the worst but god I really need to have some rest of some type..." Byleth whispered. Then he heard footsteps in the distance, he looked down the hallway and that's where he saw Alear. She stood there staring at Byleth as he stared back.
Alear whispered, "Um... hey there Byleth." Byleth stood there staring at her. He wasn't too sure what to say or anything, he just stood there awkwardly holding a glass of water in his hands. Byleth took a deep breath and braced himself. "What are you doing tonight?"
Byleth muttered, "Insomnia, getting really bad... I just wanted to apologize for lashing out at you a few days ago. I was in a really bad place mentally as I just couldn't control myself. I took some time to myself for the past few days and I just wanted to say I'm sorry." Alear stood there staring at him as she looked down at herself.
"I wanted to apologize as well, I prioritized my friends over you when I promised we were going to spend time together. I just don't know what got into me," Alear replied. Byleth nodded as he placed his glass down. The two hugged one another as they just let the moment happen. Silence, that's all that surrounded them.
Byleth whispered, "I'm so sorry..."
"It's okay... I forgive you..." She whispered back. They stood there hugging each other for a long while. Just silence... the silence, that's all there was. Silence. Alear noticed that Byleth was crying a little bit and hugged him tighter. She didn't like it at all when her allies were in tears. She hated that the most. "Byleth..."
Byleth whispered while trying not to sound raspy, "I'm so sorry for the way I treated you. I can't forgive myself for that day... I had the thought of harming everyone. I ruined my room due to the sheer anger I had. I'm so sorry..."
"Byleth, Byleth, Byleth," Alear whispered. Byleth couldn't help himself, he just cried quietly in Alear's hands. Alear took a deep breath and just let Byleth cry in her arms. Byleth was dealing with a lot and she just had to let him let it all out. "It's okay..."
Byleth muttered, "You really think so?" Alear nodded as she continued hugging him tightly. Byleth hugged her tight as they let the night consume them. In the end they both ended up falling asleep on the ground after a while. Not realizing they had fallen asleep, they finally let their feelings out and everything was fine.
In the morning they woke up next to each other and smiled at one another. The days of the wedding were only getting closer and closer as time went by. They had two more days left to prepare for it. Alear decided to help Byleth clean up the mess that was in his room. They were able to reorganize everything and everything was back neatly and back to the way Byleth loved it.
Byleth sighed, "Really sorry about this Alear, I didn't suspect for this to get so dirty and in the process make me feel just... grossed out on the inside, but now we're good to go. I'm glad you helped me, it's greatly appreciated."
"Of course Byleth! We're best friends and we're going to stay best friends no matter what comes to us, I'm just glad we were able to make it up to one another and now we're good as new!" Alear laughed. Byleth nodded as he looked at the suit he had for the wedding. "Oooh, is that the suit you're going to be wearing? Very fancy!"
Byleth sighed, "I just need to do some finishing touches and the outfit will be good to go." Alear nodded when she suddenly was reminded of something. Something she had completely forgotten about. Her own formal outfit.
"GAH! BYLETH HELP ME WITH THIS! YOU GOT TO DRIVE ME TO THE MALL AND HELP ME PICK OUT MY DRESS!" Alear shouted while panicking. Byleth stood there in confusion but nodded.
Byleth sighed, "Don't you worry about a thing, I'll drive you to the mall in no time, don't worry." Alear hugged Byleth as they dashed down the stairs to get on the motorcycle.
